Games Radar Blowout! (didn't know if I should make a new thread- feel free to if you want)

Hands on:

http://www.gamesradar.com/wii/mega-man-9-w...626165055938021

"And by experiment, we mean "die a thousand deaths," as Mega Man 9 is easily on par or above the hardest games in the series. Hell, we played for two hours and only made it to three bosses, and even then only beat two. Not too surprising considering we don't yet know which boss is weak against the other, but damn, these guys are hard."

"A lot of music is right out of Mega Man 2. The select screen (which contains more than the game, but we can't talk about that just yet) and power-up screen contain the exact same tunes played in MM2, and we also spotted some enemies taken right out of the archives. The charging Mega Buster introduced in MM4 is missing (at least initially) but Rush is available from the start - as Rush Coil, naturally. Sliding was also MIA, though we did see small tunnels suspiciously similar to those accessed by the slide move."

"There's more going on than the regular game, as the menu we mentioned earlier does hold other options. We're currently unable to talk about them, so expect Capcom to reveal a bit more during E3 less than two weeks from now. Let's just say there'll be plenty for hardcore fans to obsess over when it hits WiiWare this fall. "

Plus there are detailed descriptions of the bosses

Next, Inafune interview

http://www.gamesradar.com/f/mega-man...70217152878013

"For the first time in many years, we are developing an 8-bit game. This opportunity has awoken my sprit as a game designer. I’ve stepped closer to the designing team to get more hands-on with the graphics and game design. I’ve been more involved in the actual creation process this time, and even designed the bosses!"

"The beauty of Mega Man actually lies in its simplicity and a fine mixture of simple gameplay, puzzle-like thrill of maneuvering tricks at the last minute, and battles. Instead of new moves, we’ve tried to find an excellent balance in the game design and to achieve “simplicity and fun” in the very detailed-oriented age."

Plus lots of nice screens

Mega Man 9 – EXCLUSIVE boss reveal

First art of Splash Woman and Plug Man, plus new screens

The time is almost upon us, dear retro gamers, when we bend over and happily have Mega Man 9 kick us square in the a*s with its unrelenting, borderline unholy level of difficulty. We’re reviewing the game right now and uh, yeah, it’s hard. More on that later – today we’ve got two EXCLUSIVE looks at bosses that will soon be laughing at how many Game Over screens they cause.

Robo-lovely Splash Woman is the series’ very first female boss and was created by Mega Man progenitor Keiji Inafune. Besting her gives you the Laser Trident, which works best against... hm, we’re probably not supposed to tell you who’s weak against what just yet. Soon!

splash004--article_image.jpg

Her level is almost entirely underwater, with one really tricky set of bubble jumping you may have seen in various internet videos. The actual fight against her is pretty cute – here you see her singing her siren song, asking for aid from her aquatic allies. Just adorable, this one!

splash006--article_image.jpg

The Laser Trident spews tiny electric shots that travel through walls, even damaging certain areas that are otherwise impervious to harm. Trust us, you’ll be using this weapon a lot.

Plug Man looks a bit top heavy, like the slightest of taps would send him crashing head over heels. Tackling Pluggy awards Mega Man the unfortunately named Plug Ball. Hm.

plug004--article_image.jpg

Plug’s level is home to the dreaded appearing/disappearing block segment. If you’re unfamiliar with it, jeebus you’re in for a surprise.

plug007--article_image.jpg

Plug Ball hugs the terrain, scrolling along the floor or climbing the wall until it hits an enemy. Hm, looks like they’re using the right weapon for the level.

We’ll have much more on Mega Man 9 when it’s released (currently looking like it’ll happen in the next couple of weeks).

IGN review gives it an 8.6!

Mega Man 9 is exactly what hardcore gamers were hoping it would be, as Capcom has come out of the gate with a game that's full of nostalgia and fan service, but also one that truly does rival the best in the franchise's 8-bit roots. If you look at this game as a time warp into the NES era, it's one of the top titles out there, as it's hard as hell, somehow fresh in design (even though there have been well over 100 Mega Man games in 15 years), and simply a blast to rip through. If you weigh this one against other download titles out there though, the game will of course fall short in the graphical department (maybe the only game out there where a low graphics score is a compliment? ), the lack of innovation overall, or a lot of the modes or options you'd expect to get for your money. With that being said, Capcom did go the extra mile with online rankings, downloadable content, and a few extra areas to check out (time trials could last players a long, long time), and it makes Mega Man 9 a no-brainer download if you've got $10 to spare across any console.

7.0 Presentation

Dated by design, but also exactly what Capcom was going for. The story is lame, some of the master robots look really silly, but it's all intended. Lots of options and fan service to check out.

3.0 Graphics

A true "period piece" in gaming. Hardcore will love it, but when put against other download games, it won't look pretty. We wouldn't have it any other way though. Classic, and dated by design.

8.5 Sound

The throwback, 8-bit riffs are classic. Awesome music. Again, dated, but by design.

9.0 Gameplay

You can run, jump, and fire straight. Despite its simplicity though, Mega Man 9 is a mastery of 2D platforming. A few balance issues with guns and level difficulty can be found at times though.

8.5 Lasting Appeal

It's a short game, but like its 8-bit inspirations, it's also timeless. Once we beat it, we started again. Fun time trials, challenges, future downloadable content, and awesome level work overall.

8.6 OVERALL

Im definitely getting this
