I have owned both consoles and both have needed repairs at one time or another. While my Xbox 360 broke twice it took about 10-12 days to get it back and about the same for the Ps3 no where near a month. Second the three year warranty on the 360 ONLY covers the RRoD and the new E74 (or whatever its called) problems… So if you call Microsoft 1 year and day after you purchased your 360 for any other problem it will be an out of pocket repair… Oh and Sony does NOT give brand new consoles i can say that from experience.

Hanif roshan you are a fool.This comparison was written by someone who doesnt even own a 360.How can you be a 360 fanboy if you own a ps3 instead of a 360.This comparison was made taking polls from members of the site who have given first hand experience so please shut up…And @ bhartiman I do agree that 360 requires better support because of more hardware problems,but the game distribution is a problem of the distributors not of Microsoft support.In India playstation brand has always been strong since its probably the oldest officially available brand here.So more people go for playstation without even thinking and therefore more playstation games sell.Therefore availability of their games is better.But doesnt change the fact that xbox has best support here.Kudos M$

Oh and lol at ps3 has no problems.My friend who lives in NZ had to pay 6500 in INR to get his ps3 repaired whereas his 360 got repaired for free.AM laugh

Lastly @ty read again M$ India has unofficially extended this warranty for failures beyond rrod and e74 so effectively all problems are covered for 3 years

After reading the article when can say few things:
* Reviewer is XBOX fan
* MS is offering 3 yaer warranty as they knew XBOX is error-prone, RROD & other issues are frequent in XBOX (similar to BSOD in Win 98)
* Sony product is a sony product & it will not behave abruptly, whetehr its DVD player, TV, amera or PS3.

I don’t own any of XBOX 360 or PS3, but I am planning to own one (probably PS3) as I own PS2 (pirated ) & found know issues with it & also MGS series is only for PS3 only. I have also gone to many user forums & websites which shows how XBOX doesn’t live to users expection.

He’s personally had experiences with Sony Support and quite frankly they’re quite a pain to deal with. That was his motivation for this article.

Well thanks for everyone replies. I have proof that i own a PS3 and 360 and i got agree 360 doesn’t meet user expectation. I even have a high end PC which i play my multiplatform games. I don’t need a 360 without exclusives and played on a component without even a true 720p games. None of you understand the difference unless you make out. I don’t want to waste my time. Everyone think what they own is best. I’m not that i own all of them and i know there potential. Be happy with your console i’m not flaming anyone

@Hanif – You have got to understand that this is NOT an article comparing the pros and cons of the Xbox 360 !!! It is an article written comparing the service support and after sales experience of both consoles. So based on the what the article was intending to do – comparing after sales experience, it is clearly a well written and fair article.

Sony has always delivered the best customer experience. Ok coming to your way. Microsoft makes a faulty console and its now in its 5th gen processor called Jasper which is still giving its problems(E73). My friends have changed the 360(Xenon or Zephyr or Falcon) 5-6 times or even more and now they are sitting out of warrenty and paying for there repair. You think its fair? Microsoft should have made a proper error free console like Sony did or Nintendo did which is almost free from problems then an article like this wouldn’t even exist. This support itself has its base as RROD.

1.Normal HDD 500gb 2.5″ = 3400 MRP
2.360 120gb HDD = 8000 or more
3.360 wireless headset = 1500rs one-sided (not even bluetooth more power hog)
4.Wired headset = 800 one-sided very very cheap quality for 500 bucks u can get a amazing logitech Headset.
5. Pay for playing on live(i agree) tell me if 1 Indian is playing Gears or Halo 3 without delay or lagg. I’m using airtel 1mbps home and its got amazing dl and upload speed and it laggs.
6.Xbox360 wireless adapter = 3000 buck wow!!! i will get Wireless – N router with dongle for that cost. I did a very big mistake trusting on 360′s line-up which made me buy a 360 and that will never happen again!

I love the 360 for its games and interface also the controller but quality wise and support [0]

xbox has more easy replacements ……. etc. cus its an old console , ps3 is new , it will take time ……… to gain more supports from India sony.

I don’t know why a fanboy war has started over here. This article is not about capability and features of PS3 and Xbox 360. This is about the support Sony and Microsoft gives to their customers.

Many of you have stated that the PS3 failure rate is less. Its less but not non-existent. Imagine having to pay 13k for replacing a console that can be repaired for 1-5k. If even after that you say that Sony rocks…then I don’t know what to say.

Failure may be less or more but the company should provide proper support irrespective of that.

And the people who are supporting the PS3 or I should say Sony adamantly, how many times have you dealt with Sony India customer support regarding your PS3? I’m sure your views will change once to get the chance to deal with them.

Sony treats us Indians like shit and still here we have people who are supporting Sony blindly. They took a month to replace my PS3 and same is the case with everyone I know in gamingindians.com. Go out of India and look elsewhere. Europe and America they replace it in a week max. UK they have a next day replacement policy.

If your not ready to pay for your games. Your just a jobless ignorant kid who depends on your parents for money to buy and play games. I earn money and spend them on games. So i know the value of them more than you do. I’m very sorry if anything has hurt your feelings you have learn more by buying the games instead of downloading them and playing it on your console! 500gb HDD is for games,movies etc. Maybe you don’t have a problem even if the disc is scratched because its only going to charge you 100rs. for a new game. So i install them to Hdd without damaging the disc because its a well known problem that the 360 scratches the disc.

The funny thing about this article and moreover the comment thread is that at no point is the flamer (name not required) talking about actual Sony support in India. I have lived on more than two continents and the Sony support for pretty much any Sony product in India is absolutely dire. I have had a VAIO, Bravia, PS2 and PS3 fail on me and I can tell you that without a doubt we are at the bad end of the stick here in India. The US replacement policy by SCEA is marvelous, the European one as mentioned before is good too but for some reason, when you try and get your point across to Customer Support in India you will end up feeling like you called a garage to help you with your problem. Xbox on the other hand has had a better launch program and arguably a better scheme, at present, for their hardware. I still think library-wise and actual game support wise your going to get a second-rate support from third party developers on MS games but, once again, as mentioned before thats not MS’s problem.

Sony better pick up its pace because MS was far behind when the console war started and if your not targeting countries with larger gamer bases then your going to lose out in sales and eventually the fight ends up getting lost too.

Hey most of it is said already , i’d just like to repeat a point which most of the people took up , but some wanna bee’s stopped them from a further discussion.

Sony India for some reason has full faith in their products and deny any sort of faulty hardware complaints what so ever , sources – friend’s experience.

So, in order handle that , i think the upper management if they know what the issues relating to the hardware are should channelise the information aptly to the remotest official who is required to know what the problems are.

So blaming Sony India well may be but definitely to blame Sony India’s Management and their Communication channel for sure.

Some one in the forums here said he got his ps3 replaced with a killzone 2 bundle,even though the warranty got expired 6months back free of cost!!

How s that possible?

I was given my replacement ps3′s in 4 days when the first one died and in 7days when the other ps3 died.Sony completely lives up to the promise!!

I agree that MS is good at after sales service and also agree that xbox is the crappiest console ever (despite the fact that I own it). But still why fight… enjoy your PS3/xbox… and let others enjoy their console. No one is forcing you to buy anything…

My friend has a PS3 which is under warranty.. some problem occurred and he gave it to sony for replacement. its been over 2months.. its still with sony. he keeps calling them daily but no proper responce..he was telling many time they wont even take the call(may be some service center no. given to him).. i never thought sony has such a BAD support

I never knew that people in India also fight about xbox and ps. As xbox360 and ps3 owner i would say xbox360 have better customer support in Canada, may be because North American Region. Except customer support i am on ps3′s side.

I feel that all this blog is about the warranty and less about the console and games. First off, you should compare statistics from PS3 to 360. Would you take a console that is a ticking time-bomb or would you rather get a console with only 1% chance of having a factory defect since that’s what all the PS3 is. Since 2006, my PS3 has always been with me, not to mention I use Folding@Home (leaving my PS3 idle for 6 or more hours to help disease research every few days) and IT DOESN’T BREAK.

And secondly, I can’t help but think that this whole article is just one big troll bait. Comparing a PS3 warranty to a 360 warranty is just downright outrageous. A failure for the PS3 is virtually unheard of but a 360′s failure rate is known throughout EVERY GAMER IN EXISTENCE. And yet you compare these 2 as if they had the same problem. Shame on you.
