The Sales Charts Thread

^^ Affirmative

The X360 has the highest attach rates right now. And with the higher install base (courtesy 1 year headstart) and relatively lower development costs compared to the PS3, it works out to be a much more profitable proposition for devs.

But nothing can beat the fact that the Wii has racked up more sales than any other next gen console and the install base is a very tempting market for devs. Case in point, the shifting of MHIII from the PS3 to the Wii.

^^ I sorta feel, 1 year from now, wii would have lost its novelty and most of its third party support ! Nintendo really needs to grow beyond mario and zelda if it has to attract a more varied audience and publishers.

Letting R* to publish 'manhunt 2' was a good move....it needs to take some bold steps like that !

The Japanese Software Chart

From Kotaku

Seaman! Buckets and buckets of Seaman! That's what Japanese gamers gobbled up this week, as Sega's sequel to the Dreamcast test of patience from Vivarium for the PlayStation 2 topped the Japanese sales charts. The voice activated, missing link-raising sim just barely beat out Nintendo's newest non-game for the Nintendo DS, DS Bungaku Zenshuu, a collection of Japanese literature readable on the dual screen sensation.

The only other exciting sales news was the debut of Beautiful Katamari for the Xbox 360 cracking the top ten and Lair for the PlayStation 3 hanging tough in the top 30. Also, I'm sure many of you were curious about the placement of DS Nishimura Kyotaro Suspense Shin Tantei Series: Kyoto Atami Zekkai no Kotou - Satsui no Wana. It held strong for another week and should best the 100,000 mark any day now. Sleep well, sales figure faithful.

The 1st 5 games sound completely idiotic. Has anyone here played these games(or even heard of them)

Seaman 2 is the sequel to the highly rated life simulator 'Seaman' which was released for the Dreamcast. Read up about it. It was truly revolutionary for its time.

seaman 2 at no 1 rofl

this game is similar like tamagotchi or nintendogs, its just that the creature is a fish+human hybrid, you have to feed him, give him command via the mic.

slow japanese week btw

if the no1 title is less than 100,000 units its a slow week

wii has come down a long way,it was outselling ps3 4/5:1 just a couple of months backs, its pretty close now(wii sales have fallen,ps3's has picked up slightly)

u have to feel sorry for 360 in japan despite having a made for japan title(katamari) the sales have fallen by more than 50%,so it again confirms my belief that last weeks spike was due to the elite launch

wii sales will have massive boost once, galaxy and wiifit enters, dont see anything that ps3 and 360 has this holiday in japanese market, mosou might help ps3 and LO might help 360 slightly.

Aussie Sales Charts

From Kotaku

Australia doesn't just abandon the Master Chief once he's been on the shelf for a week or two. No, we BELIEVE. And so it is that Halo 3, a month after release, still tops the charts, no doubt helped along by the fact Orange Box only came out only this week and that the general public seems blissfully unaware that Project Gotham Racing 4 actually exists.

1) Halo 3

2) Phantom Hourglass

3) Drawn To Life

4) Crash of the Titans (PS2)

5) Catz 2006 (DS)

6) SingStar Pop Hits (Game + Mics)

7) Juiced 2 (PS2)

8) SingStar 90s

9) Dogz 2006 (DS)

10) SingStar Rock Ballads
