any cliff notes on the process?

Apply yourself and save the money or pay-up for convenience.

Gather as many docs especially for showing financial sufficiency.

This is what I submitted:

Passport

Passport Copy: Front and Back

2 Photo: 45x45

Visa form

Cover letter (including structured itinerary)

Air tickets

Stays

NOC

6 month bank slips

3yr ITR acknowledgement

1yr salary slips

Fixed deposits

Demat Holdings

If you show enough funds and have a good cover letter which mentions that you look forward to being back to Japan in future, you should get multi-year without explicitly applying for it. Helps if you have travelled before to other countries.

Otherwise, if your luck is not great, you will get a visa which is sufficient for your trip.

Appointments are easy to get and passport generally is available in 5-7 working days.

Got Japan 5yr visa.

Let's gooo.

@Bird Bird Bird @achilles Period of stay(s) is 90 days.

Is that cumulative of all visits over 5 years of per visit?

So is this a tourist visa or a business visa?

If it is a business visa, it should be 90 consecutive per visit. What does it say on the Visa under "for a stay of" section?

It's a tourist visa.

Just mentions "Period of Stay(s): 90 days"

Validity is 5yrs.

Have been getting conflicting information from various sources, will just ask the immigration officer when I travel.

Got a 3 year multiple entry visa as well, had the same question about the 90 days.

They have an embassy in Mumbai, maybe try calling them and check?

… and then let me know:fear1:

LOL even he might give you conflicting info. Just ask on the 91st day of stay in Japan and let us know what happens :D

By the language (bolded part), it means a total of 90 days.

UK visa also mentions the same but it is 180 days per visit for UK, lol.

For Schengen, it is cumulative.

Realistically 15 days in Japan every year for 5 years = 75 days but I was just curious about it.

Waiting on the answer so that I don’t have to limit myself to 15 days like last time:furious:

I applied for single visit as well.

Based upon your profile they automatically give multi-entry.
