Btw make sure you uncheck the option of enable daily scan in AVG while installing it....You can run a manual scan when you feel like. Grimmjow
You could try uninstalling it from device manager and then restart, it should reinstall the drive automatically.
Bulovski
well personally i wont even care....it slows down the system like anything... Â yes - even if it's free it will fk up your system - and the more it stays the harder it gets to remove it because it will eat it's way into the registry. so get rid of it asap. Â i personally like a quick daily scan because it hardly takes up time and is a good preventive.

Is there a hardware problem? Â I have heard heating problems with Quad cores..is that the case? Â might be problame with: PSU RAM mobo HDD. Â try to boot ur PC using only one RAM stick (aKa 2GB if u have 2*2 installed, remove one 2GB, then try both the RAM sticks). if this fails(i.e. if ur RAM's r OK), then might be the PSU that is f**ked up, try borrowing someone's PSU just to check things up. if that fails (i.e. if ur RAM's and PSU r OK), then try HDD first, re-install the OS and see if it FAILS, see if u can borrow HDD and check if OS boots up normally. if that Fails, then it's ur mobo... It looks like more of a software problem to me then hardware. conflicting drivers causes these kindaa problems most of the times. i would reinstall xp and before loading any drivers make sure they are of latest version. It asks me for the admin password and i am pretty sur ei have never given an admin password. What do i do now? My PC fails to boot. Do i just reinstall the whole thing  I hope I'm not too late and that you have not reinstalled OS. To fix this all you have to do is  1. When it asks you which windows installation do you want to repair? Press "1" and hit enter. 2. When it asks for password, if there is no password, just press enter. 3. Then type repair commands such as chkdsk /p; chkdsk /r; fixboot, and fixmbr..  hope this helps..
Pushy
yep true that, first try re-installing OS and drivers...

Turn off automatic restart in windows and then if there is a BSOD you would be able to see the error.
