Release date: October 5, 2018

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

Publisher: Ubisoft

Genre: Action/Adventure

1. Choose your character

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey lets you choose who to play as. You pick between Kassandra, the female protagonist, or Alexios, the male protagonist, both of whom are descendants of Leonidas I, the famous king of Sparta during the Second Persian War. The choice won't really affect the game that much, but it allows players to further personalize their experience.

2. New combat abilities

Odyssey spices up the series' combat with new special abilities. During any given fight, you build up an ability meter that can be spent on a handful of abilities like a powerful Spartan kick that sends enemies flying, a ranged attack that allows you to nock several arrows in a single shot, and a melee move where you steal your enemy's shield and bash them with it.

3. Boats are back in a big way

Taking a note from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, naval warfare is back, baby. With the Aegean Sea at your fingertips, it's only natural that ship battles are a feature of the landscape. You can build up a crew, take down pirate ships, board other boats, and kick enemies into the sea to watch them get eaten by sharks.

4. Choices matter

Your input and behavior in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey has a big impact on the game. During the main storyline and in side quests, players will be able to make decisions about how to tackle certain predicaments and who they form positive and negative relationships with. These decisions will even have an impact on how the game ends.

5. Mercenaries

Odyssey has its own system of checks and balances with the inclusion of mercenaries. Because there is no formal police service in Greece, citizens will employ mercenaries to take out people who have wronged them, including you.

6. Big battles

Odyssey takes place during the Peloponnesian War, which means there will be large-scale battles like the series has never seen before. Players can help Spartan armies fight back against Athenians in these battles by taking out random soldiers as well as key commanders and heroes to turn the tide of the war in Sparta's favor.

How many new assassins? Was hoping for another long run instead we are getting a new one.

Loved Origins but feels like this is too soon. Not even a year passed. Hopefully next summer release.

It'll have the monumental expectation of topping Origins.

Hopefull, they just reveal it now. But, release it next year, thereby maintaining the 2-year cycle between releases.

You're assuming that they'll refresh the formula for each new AC game.

Nope, watch this have exact same systems and elements as Origin and watch them run it into the ground for next 2-3 years.

Leaks say they will release this year probably on November

This is actually “exhausting”[emoji846]. A complete story play through takes approx 35-40 hours. And I was thinking of playing other games. I was / am hopeful for a new splinter cell or watch dogs entry...[emoji52]

Some dump

  • The codename was ‘Constellation’ changed to ‘Dynasty’ during alpha stage, and finally renamed ‘Odyssey’
  • The game is set 400 years BEFORE the events of Assassins Creed Origins
  • We continue as Laya (with Desmond’s father) in London.
  • The game is set in Ancient Greece & its mythology.
  • The opening scene we play as Leonids at the battle of Thermopylae
  • We then get to choose to play as his Son or his daughter
  • If you choose boy the girl gets kicked off the mountain (& Visa Versa)
  • Whoever gets kicked off the mountain (brother or sister) will become the antagonist of the game
  • Naval returns on a scale similar to the black flag, we have our own ship which we can upgrade
  • Animals and hunting for resources are back
  • The eagle returns! Just like Senu this time called Ikarus
  • Skill tree returns
  • Dianne Daughter of Artemis gives us legendary quests, to hunt legendary animals (Nemee Lion, Boar of Cephala etc)
  • The ‘Bad guys’ are called ‘Cultists’
  • Areas will be restrictive just like Origins, (you will need to be a certain level to survive)
  • Combat is a carbon copy of Origins
  • Weapon perks return similar to Origins but we can now choose our own perks for weapons this is called engraving, we need to complete special quests and unlock an engraving as a reward
  • The level up system is back, you need to be high level to start certain missions
  • The E3 demo will showcase level 18 - 23
  • Each region will have a leader controlling the area, we need to kill the leader's commander and claim outposts to lure him out
  • We visit all the major Greek city’s and learn its history
  • DLC is already implemented, ‘Atlantis’ is the one of the DLC Areas
  • Photo mode is back
  • Multiple choice answers rumours are true and impact the story. One example: your first major decision comes when you reach level 10 and you choose to kill your father or let him live (because he threw your sibling off the mountain) that’s what’s shown in the quick tease
  • Your decision impacts the entire story
  • The game will launch before March 31st, 2019 (end of Ubisoft’s fiscal year)
  • The story will have multiple endings depending on how we answer

Another AAA title in early 2019!!! Looks like everyone is scared for “That Rockstar game releasing in October - Which cannot be NAMED!”

I count this, Metro Exodus, Anthem, Rage 2, Fallout 76(May be) and still going on for other entries to be announced in E3.
Looks like 2019 is turning out to be another good year for gaming[emoji846]

Ubisoft never released mainline AC game outside of holiday season. They went on a record saying they couldn't delay Unity past holiday despite how broken and unfinished it was because it would ruin their schedule. AC is the epitome of what you call conveyor belt manufacturing process. You're either getting it in holiday 2018 or holiday 2019.

Pretty much the case with all their largest singleplayer franchises.

But as much this is worth criticising, it is also worth stating that they have done well by their multiplayer titles, especially the ones that they have stuck out a limb for like The Division and For Honor although both games are definitely not going to get an active playerbase anytime soon.
