Dhawan has done well recently but Vijay should simply walk into this side whenever he is fit. This is a very burdensome tour because of the sh*t scheduling and the 0 losses record that needs to be preserved. And we have made a bad start on the first day, but considering the weather forceast tomorrow and the day after, this Test will most likely end in a draw. Banz Posted November 19, 2017 Report Share Posted November 19, 2017 Amazing how the complexion of Test matches changes due to lost time. Without rain, Sri Lanka's 122 run lead would still have given India enough time to set a competitive 4th innings total. Now by the time India do that, there won't be enough overs to bowl Sri Lanka out. This gives them a great advantage although our openers have started well. Banz Posted November 19, 2017 Report Share Posted November 19, 2017 Dhawan to me is a hit and a miss. Even in today's case, we are batting for safety and not to chase a win. Vijay would still have been the better choice. In the end because Dhawan was attacking, Rahul slowed down his game. And we need Vijay in South Africa. No way around that. We only managed to bowl 19.3 overs in 1.45 hours after tea. Could have done a bit better there. Over rate has been bad throughout the Test. There are day-night Tests to try that. You cannot just extend play by changing the playing conditions so much. What next? Light is not enough and its dangerous to play with season ball, so play with a tennis ball? There are better things that India could do, like playing the home season from January to April, when the days are longer. And forcing the teams to bowl atleast 15 overs per hour.
