ps4geek
Earlier in the 90's australian and south african pitches were pretty fast and bouncy...Since BCCI became the real powerhouse of cricket since the new millennium , Indian teams that have toured Australia , South Africa or New Zealand (except for one series) have been playing mostly on docile pitches have been a belter for batting (even perth has slowed down considerably). Now whats with that , your guess is better than mine. Indian tour is important for every country and no one wants to make BCCI embarrassed by thrashing the Indian team .. See the example of New Zealand . In the earlier tour when India were thrashed badly, in the next tour the pitches we like Mumbai and Kolkata But coming to Avishkar's point , I agree with him that curators should make pitches favouring the home team. Although its better to have a green top or a square turner to make the match more exciting. Edited February 11, 2010 by ps3geek

Nemo
omg.. epic fight back by the indian team just when you think they are down and out.. and the pitch too is nice, i mean not the dusty turner everyone was hoping for, so what happened why did we bundled in front of styen so easily at nagpur and raped him in kolkata ?? lagta hai the team needs a good kick in the arse to perform like champs, chalo jo hua achacha hi hua. We are back where we belong, kicking a*s and then kicking some more epic lead, now hope bowlers do the job. GTFO south africa, no.1 is ours
Jigsaw
Honestly didn't expect our team to hit back so well after the first test. And WTF is with mishra?? He bats like a no.7 batsman than a tail-ender

Man In The Box
Great performance by the Indian team. Sachin, Sehwag, Laxman and Dhoni were really good with the bat and the bowlers worked very hard to get the 20 wickets. Finally India showed what a threat they are at home. Man In The Box
Under strength? Except for Rahul Dravid, isn't every other big player in the team? AtheK
Under strength? Except for Rahul Dravid, isn't every other big player in the team? [Yuvraj is not really a test match veteran] we just took 10 wickets without our main bowler...and yes without dravid our batting line up is understrength.... But then how will you understand...i am sure you are busy writing a post that how Amla is so much better then SRT...so you know...
Man In The Box
Lol - well if Indian team was that great we wouldn't have been thrashed by SA in the 1st match and if we were indeed so good, BCCI wouldn't have to plead to the curators to make a spinning wicket. So it's not an understrength team which won, the pitch favoured us and that's why we won. And let's not get into the Sachin discussion. Every person who really understands the game knows who the best batsman of this generation is (actually it's really close between Lara and Ponting but Sachin doesn't even come close). Man In The Box
Dude this was nowhere close to the 1st test match wicket either. And afaik the Indian spinners did most of the damage. Edited February 18, 2010 by Avishkar

Spinning wicket You call this a spinning wicket Every team at home gets a pitch which suits it's strength it's no big deal. I wont say that Sachin is the best batsman in the world because it is a matter of preference. But to say that he not even comes close is really dumb. Lara was a selfish player who only played for records. And I would rate Sachin above Ponting because of the sheer pressure he has to endure whenever he comes to bat. Normal people would break under such pressure but not Sachin. Once Sachin leaves the game you will understand what he was to indian cricket.
