ahh, I do not expect it to be any good.

the script will surely kill it, like most movies here now days.

but I expect it to be good in parts, especially good in VFX, not like Transformers good, but better than most things here

obviously it will have good as well as bad parts, but unlike most people here who are bashing it for the bad parts, I would like to praise it for good parts as well

And once again, It cannot be worse than Drona. Nothing can be worse than Drona. err maybe Ramu Ki Aag.

Ra.One Review by shedown

Ra.One is Bollywood’s latest attempt at capturing the Indian market with Super-heroes and sci-fi, starring SRK, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. It’s a movie which is impossible of being unheard of. SRK made sure of this with his marketing tactics. We saw every shameless plug pulled by him to get associates and sponsor for the video-game and film. From mobile phones, deodorants, youtube channels to Mcdonalds burgers and musical HART. I, personally, felt he should have advertised toilet paper too. It would have generated more revenue as people wiped this steaming pile of turd off while leaving the movie theatres.

Ra.One straight away throws you into its world and sets the ball rolling quite quickly. I thought the premise made excellent sense and its something which I felt a lot of people can relate to. Father tries to impress the son by making a game in such a manner that would really impress his child. He succeeds in doing the same. This is where everything goes belly-up. Sekhar Subramniam(SRK) makes a villain so powerful who gets out of the game and starts killing people and is after the Sekhar’s family. Needless to say there was absolutely no bloody event that led to the villain, Ra.One, coming out of the game, into the real world. He just happened to be stronger than his Yin, G.One. Hell, I don’t even think he’d stack up to Dan from Street Fighter, and Dan is still stuck in a video-game. No nuclear reaction, no scientific explanation. He just gets out of the game like how you’d get out of your house.

So, anyway, Ra.One chases Sekhar’s Family, for the most idiotic reason, I don’t want to spoil by revealing. This is when Imran Khan from ‘My Name is Khan’ enters the movie….. I mean G.One(also SRK) enters the movie. Im sorry I just got confused because the way he talks is exactly like the character from MNIK. He engages in battle with Ra.One which seems like the poor baby of the most epic scenes from T2: Judgment Day. Then we have the interval followed by 70 mins of absolute bull-sh*t.

Ranging from the most crass humour to cheesiest dialogue, the movie delivers a minute by minute hear pulling experience. Every scene is dragged more than it really should, if it should be there at all; pointless fight scenes, Arjun Rampal, moments which made absolutely no sense in the movie, terrible attempts at humour, Arjun Rampal, cheesy dialogues and Arjun Rampal. How does that guy manage to get an acting gig so frequently despite being so agonizingly bad!? I have a bottle of water next to me that has more expressions in an hour than he has had his entire acting career. He barely had anything to do in the movie and still managed to balls it up. 20 mins of screen time, 90% of his screens involve VFX, where he has to only show his face, his audio is mixed with an audio enhancer and auto-tuner, to make it sound menacing. There is a final battle between G.One and Ra.One goes on forever. Then we have the worst ending possible. Its yet another rip-off from the perfect ending of T2, twisted into a very cheesy and corny way that would annoy most audiences.

If Ra.One went for the usual entertainer film like SRK’s usual films are, then it would have been fine. But no, it tries to be more than a film and fails on so many levels. The movie does a shadow marketing of the game that would easily attract younger movie-goers to actually purchase the video-game, which is nothing like the excellent VFX of the film. Its entire memorabilia is a desperate attempt at trying to recover money spent on the movie. They all have a single direction and it’s monetary. There is no genuine attempt at trying to create a world for the audience to be immersed in, to have an experience like Middle-Earth or Hogwarts. In the end, its just another movie.

I wouldn’t spend real money to go and watch this movie. If manage to get free tickets and have 3 hrs to do nothing, watch it. Otherwise, avoid.

The First 2 bolded parts clearly shows that u hate srk and his acts thus reading your whole review is pointless cause as an SRK hater u will only bash the movie. Therefore the credibility of the review goes well down only there. But still if u read the review then

3rd bolded part, its not explained entirely but still at the start the of the film(shahana goswami) has explained some thing to relate to the ra one coming out of the game.

4th bolded part,u write 70 mins of BS and in the 5th bolded part u write excellent VFX of the film.In the 2nd half VFX takes the front seat in the film and if u think the 2nd half is BS then how did u like the VFX whereas the 2nd half is filled with great VFX.

Last bolded part u have compared it with Harry Potter whos budget is way way way more than ra one so comparing them is absolute foolishness.

Last thing who the hell lets u write review for gods sake :furious: U have no credibility to write a review but if some one reads ur review he will only be mis-leaded rather than any thing else.

So stop writing please for gods sake.Do u even read what BS u post :threatenlumber:

@shekdown, is it true that south indians are depicted very badly or rather crassly in the movie ? Saw a comment on fb like that.

though u have not asked me but still they are not.SRK is only shown eating curd with his hands which south Indians do there is nothing to be shamed about and he also says AIIYO many times and The word Keys which re sounds like kiss. And by no means South Indians should be offended by it

Nah. It's good front bencher perspective of a 'madrasi', hackneyed stereotypes, nothing you haven't seen before. This is not the major problem with the movie. There are other serious ones which you don't seem to care about, so don't let this stop you.

Ra One My Experience:

Went to see the awesome 3D version of the Film.Went to PVR Cinemas,Before the start of the film PVR staff gave few instructions about the 3D glasses and said PVR offers the best experience and then the movie started and within 3 mins of the film the light went out for 3-4 mins and everybody in the hall screamed Best Experience hai yeh toh and the whole hall was laughing and then no problem after that.

The dream sequence at the start was good.Sanjay dutt and SRK dialogues were very funny especially sabki lee one  SRK as Dante was a total mis-match i must admit.Very bad.this would be long if i speak everything out thus will keep the experience short.SRK as a South Indian did a good job i think,he didnt over do the act and did a great job :good: Kareena was  Really a treat to watch in every scene she was,she looked gorgeus. The abusing thing was smartly spotted. Why every Abuse starts with a female, why not male. She just gave girls their own abuse vocabulary

The concept of ra one had tremendous potential but it wasnt executed better by the Director, smart direction was needed here.also as 150 crore was the budget i think they have done a fine job with it.More money into it and ra one could have nailed it.The 150 crore is clearly visible in the movie, kudos to SRK to think and attempt out of the blue

Some of the jokes will not tickle many persons but they dont hamper the film.Chitti`s Entry was :clapping: Ra.One coming out into real world could have been explained more rather than just give a sneak peak at the start of the film. The Special Effects was Faptastic,No Indian Movie comes close to this and i mean not even close.Hats Off to VFX :hi2:

Whether its the G.One suit crumbling,Ra One coming out onto real world, the ending or the Electric waves coming out when RaOne Punches SRK was truly a treat to watch :clap3: The Chase, the train sequence and the end were superbly done :clapping:

The Songs were great, they are already all big hit so good to hear and see them on big screen.Chamakh Chaloo was Awesome awesome :wOOtjumpy:

Ra.One vs G.One fights should have been more and the first confrontation should have been done a bit better.G.One getting emotional was total crap, even with artificial intelligence installed he cannot understand human emotions so that was a mistake by the Director and SRK.

SRK played G.One very very well.Arjun Rampal looked stunning but he got too less screen time for him to give a performance.Kareena was superb, one more mistake, how can the boy know so much about the programming and all aspects of the game is really a big mistake.

All in all it was a good movie but could have been a lot lot better with smart direction and more money into it.HATS OFF TO SRK for attempting it :hi2:
