AtheK
Its the Punjabis who love buying a diesel car, run it for 20k and then sell it to buy a new diesel car, running on an avg loss of 1 lac every two years
Pushy
take into account, u fill 30 ltrs of fuel every month, so for petrol it would cost u 2400 bucks, for diesel it's 1350, so it's 1K difference per month, no rocket science for which type of fuel to opt for

Pushy
come on bro, seriously? Â 500/15 = 33.33, taking 30 as round up figure and 15kms covered in a day just for example, then, 30(days)*15(kmpl, per day) = 500 kms covered in a month
Anikesh
running of my previous car was 18k in 4 years(alto lxi)  there is no way in hell i wud be able to recover the cost premium of a diesel ertiga  high running can only justify a diesel buy....  due to these high petrol prices there is almost a foolish rush to buy diesel car i saw car salesman(when i was in showroom) trying to make a young couple understand y swift petrol was more suited but they insisted on diesel (p.s diesel has 8 months waiting period ) Edited May 31, 2012 by Anikesh

piper
In punjab diesel is 40 and petrol 82. Thats the reason people buy diesel cars in punjab.. For the farming-income supported community in Punjab, one time cost they can afford (even twice a year) so they are fine with paying more for a diesel car. The running cost stays more in one's mind and in that sense, diesel cars are the right choice. Plus, with regards to more running, the distance from 'pind to sheher wala makaan' usually takes care of that. Â On that note : Â
