NVIDIA GeForce 700 Series Launching in Mid-May

Recommended Posts

PC low = console.

With decent card like 660ti or AMD (~$300), you can easily play all games on max and medium settings for ~3-5 years easily.

Also, you can always turn of Physx, lessen SMAA settings and stuff, etc to enjoy maximum performance with great graphics.

Each console game costs $50-60..that's 5 console game = GTX 660ti..I don't see why anybody can't afford it..

I bought hd 6670 about 10 months ago i think ...so not like it was long time back ...do you think i will be able to play games for next 2-3 years also(2015) ??...forget 5 years

The price is easily offset if you consider the price at which games launch at consoles compared to PC.

that is defintely one advantage for us indians gamers..otherwise if it was same price as in usa and all..i dont think we would have so many pc gamers here...

Spending on top flight PC components up front will give your rig long legs. I built my rig in 2010, spending a bomb on top or close to top end components. 3 years hence, a simple graphics card swap (Radeon 5970 to GeForce 670) has allowed me to play BF3, Metro: Last Light, Crysis 2, etc. at 1080p with all settings maxed and only reductions to AA settings to keep frame rates stable. With regular sales on PC games from Steam, GMG, Amazon, GGG, etc., it works out to a pretty sweet deal financially over a 4-5 year period to keep playing games with all bells & whistles enabled.

you must have spend about above Rs 1 lakh?? ...that is Rs 20k each year like buying one console every year if i take that 5 years term ....i really cannot see how it is sweet deal financially tbh.

Buying the same console every year does not improve its graphics.

yea that is there ..you get to play it in full glory ....still not a sweet deal like i said...since you paying quite a lot also.

Anyways everyone has different expectations i guess ..yours is more towards high quality no matter what the price.

Mine is decent price but quality should be really good also if not full high settings.

Bhai, you are on a forum, ask around before making any purchases. Anyone in touch with the PC scene can tell you that the HD6670 is not a gaming grade card.

STEAM and Amazon Sale, GoG, GmG and a little patience.

Nope, I spent ~75000/- INR in January 2010 (inclusive Windows7 license) and have been using the same RIG for the past three years, only upgrades are in the hard-drive and RAM departments. Still play games on High -->Medium. Your point is moot.

I was recommended that card o this forum itself by you guys and afty ...though my budget was around rs 6k-7k and i did check that within that budget i did not have much choices...so dont really blame anyone recommending it . Just that i dont know where it leaves with me with upcoming games even after spending Rs 6k just 8 months back ( not 10 months back got it during durga puja time i think ) ...already i have to lower down quite few settings for current games ..so the lasting factor is not really there.

Looking at the fast changing technology, I believe 3 years is a decent time to play with ultra settings with one card.

PS bhai, you can always sell the old cards right?

I will but that would mean other components upgrade as well otherwise there will be bottleneck effect.

Well.. i think it rests at 2 cases :-

- You want to be a easy going guy.. don't want to worry much about HW change and enhancement and play the game for what it offers.. Then console is your thing.. I rightfully belong here :walkman:

- You are a bit more active on HW research and keep a track of the market (moving HW , new or used) , then you can get over the challenges of new and changing HW and yet again play the game at the best of what it offers, in this case the offering is way better (Sorry Consoles), But it comes at an expense of spending time over HW market research and opportunity which can be seized to buy em. :punk: But get better quality.

And as Me, ALPHA and SlackerN pointed out..... Love/Play the Game, Screw the Platform/Format :punk:

75,000/- for a brand new PC with a legit license is not bad especially if a well planned purchase can easily have several layers of redundant hardware that can be reused.

Anyway to each their own.

You're not looking at it the right way. The calculation makes sense if you are going to buy a gaming PC anyway. You have to consider the price difference between a mid range gaming PC and one with close to top flight specs. Once you have made the investment, you can comfortably play at max details for a couple of years. After that, one gfx card upgrade will let you enjoy max or second highest detail levels for another couple of years by which time, your PC is comfortably outpacing the visual prowess of your consoles even at 4 times the resolution.

Must be 2 versions then. 3GB and 5GB. Will update upon more information.

Till then,

Titan: $1,019.99
780: (launch price) $599 (updated to $650) - region based.

Ahead of its launch just a little later this week, online retailers appear to be stocking up on NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 780 graphics card. An EVGA-branded card is being offered by distributor SYNNEX to retailers at US $644.44. This is the price that retailers (eg: Newegg, TigerDirect, NCIX, etc.) have to pay distributors per unit. We estimate that after retailers add their margins, the card could be priced anywhere between $650-700. Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to find out.

TITAN users must be

TIME TO LOAD UP 2XGTX 780 :smokey:
