NVIDIA GeForce 700 Series Launching in Mid-May

What if it goes kaput, I'll be doomed without warranty :nerves:

I don't trust current/next gen hw anymore !!

Many graphics hardware companies offer international warranty on their cards. So you can always get your products replaced.

As far as I know, EVGA is one which offers the best global GPU warranty scheme.

EVGA -

Just to clarify if its an EVGA card we don't care where you buy it, you still send it back to the closest regional center.

Gigabyte offers international warranty as well.

Where be the HD8xxxM?

No point upgrading to a HD8*** series card, the HD9*** series card comes out Q3 / Q4 this year.

:samui: and I was hoping to be a PC gamer this year

what does fate want off me :ack:

Get an ASUS or GIGABYTE card from Amazon, either ask a relative to bring it in or Shop and Ship India (although they go by the books so it will get steep).

Fate wants you to realize that PC gaming is an one time investment for the next ~3 years with a high to mid-range RIG. Get some.

Amazon also offers direct shipping on it, so no need of shop and ship

Are you justifying the preposterous pricing of 50k+ for a GFX :fear:

The difference in price in case of import will be minimum since all the services available charge exuberant (or legitimate) duties and not worth the hassel IMO.

Kunni bhai, wait just a little more and see howmuch next gen is being priced...see you at the stage right now where next gen console is already here (with latest tech) ....its like both is going to offer you literally same tech(one with half the price Rs 25k-30k max for next gen console i think) and yet you will be missing on console exclusives whereas multiplatforms are always coming on all three...infact if any pc is sometimes left out or delayed...tbh ...i think it should be like this..

One who is conscious about his money spending and at the point where he has to choose between next gen console or high end pc...could go for next gen console within 1 year of its release and make a high end pc around mid of next gen ...say 2-3 years ....this is what i think is best way to try to get both of the worlds without sacrificing much.

I am saying get a graphic card worth ~20000/- -->25000/- and you are set. No need for breaking the bank for just the graphic card.

Import duties will not be levied on a graphic card in two cases --

  1. A relative / family member brings it into country
  2. You mark the card as a gift when getting it direct (chances of being held at nearest Customs office

In the end it is your money and your choice, so this is just a suggestion. If you still feel this is beyond your means, go down the consoles path.

Also when getting from Amazon, Newegg or some other foreign e-retail chains I suggest you talk to their Customer Care and clarify their policy on faulty cards under warranty. This way you can spare yourself a nasty surprise later.

As far as I know, EVGA is one which offers the best global GPU warranty scheme.

For all this bluster and statements of world-wide warranty, eVGA has zero presence here in India and in-case of a bad egg the closest official support chain is in Singapore, one-way shipping on you.

GIGABYTE and ASUS have the local advantage and I strongly suggest these over any other companies.

yet you will be missing on console exclusives whereas multiplatforms are always coming on all three...infact if any pc is sometimes left out or delayed...tbh ...i think it should be like this.

Even PC's have a lot of exclusives that have never seen the light on any consoles (and never will), as well in all good multi-platform titles the PC is going to be the best. Even more so, now that even the consoles are more PC than proprietary hardware.

STEAM / Amazon sales, GmG discounts and GoG are another great reasons to come to PC. Original games, for dirt prices, spend more time playing games then whining about the price.

PlayStation if you think games should be delayed on PC, well that is just your shortsightedness on topic. -_-

eVGA has zero support in India? Didn't know about this.

ASUS doesn't offer any international warranty on mobo's and GPU's -

"Unfortunately we do not offer global warranty for video card and motherboard. So, we are unable to repair under warranty. Components only carry local warranty. Please return it back to where you purchase for warranty issue. If you want to repair it in AU, you will pay the fee for shipping and repair. It may enough to purchase a new card."

Yes, it only has distributor tie-up with Tirupati Enterprises. Don't know if that stands or has been dissolved.

I know that they officially don't have international warranty but with the right tact you can get it done in the local ASUS service centers for free; replacement in-case the card is dead / faulty. In eVGA's it is Singapore or bust.

So why are they even selling PC components here? Do they offer anything other than GPU's in India?

Motherboards (as per flipkart) but that is moot because most of it is old stock and not worth the exorbitant prices marked.

I think you forgot that PS3 was released here at a price of 40k. :fear:

Reason for not going for consoles straight away is :

-- shoddy first iteration

-- massively overpriced

-- lack of games at launch

-- expensive games

Otherwise will have to get a high end PC and sustain till price drops happen -- reason for going PC knowing that it would cost me way beyond the PS4 launch price is :

-- future proof / reliable tech with decent a*s

-- cost effect - cheap games

-- multiplat in fapworthy gfx and sound

So here's my plan -- PC first -- then when consoles settle in with decent pricing and new hw iterations (fixing ylod/rrod phenomenon) would get a PS4.

thing is you and mt and others usually thinks graphics card is all one needs on pc to play great games....there are lot of other component required to upgrade with it as well...it is not like that imo.

TB very honest ....right now i cant think of a single pc exclusive that i miss on not being on console...so can you name me few really good ones??and can give ample of games names that i would love to play on pc.

STEAM / Amazon sales, GmG discounts and GoG are another great reasons to come to PC. Original games, for dirt prices, spend more time playing games then whining about the price.

PlayStation if you think games should be delayed on PC, well that is just your shortsightedness on topic. -_-

Alpha you really have a problem with understanding simple sentences...no offence meant really ....Why would i want pc games to be dealyed?? or how does my post says i want it to be delayed?? since a year or so all my purchases have been pc....i did not buy MGS revengeance on console(being big fan of mgs games) yet bought and kept Guide book ofthis(though just for collection) and waited only because i knew pc version will come....and it is coming now ...and i am very happy about it.

Wrong.

I understand ....but my point was...next gen console is heavily packed too... 8gb ram is no small joke... i can gurantee you many pc gamers here still stuck with 4 gb ram....and gfx can hold on its own too. for quite some time atleast .

this is not PC Vs Console.(pc is a long term winner anyday)..in my books atleast it is not ....but one could still make it win-win situation by deciding what is right time to do now...which i think is to wait a little and then decide specially when things become more clear about no used games and other parts like exclusives and all of both the consoles.

Games like infamous, uncharted 4 ,gears of war, gran turismo, forza, halo ....there are not easy to resist spending Rs 50k on high end pc will give you chance to play 99% of games which are mutliplatforms (god knows what is that 1% exclusive also on pc) and the current gen will still hold up to these multiplatform also...

still it is personal choice ...how much can someone live with these games already out and guys playing uc4,gears of wars and all...

I think you forgot that PS3 was released here at a price of 40k. :fear:

thats why i said lets wait a bit for things to be clear...my guess is Rs 25k-30k would be the price of next gen console in india and importing for abroad would cost Rs 20k-25k...
