Booted the game and its one of the best looking games on 360, you can argue gears 3 but gears is entirely dependent on its color pallete but rage is not

What does that mean? How can the looks of a game not be dependent on the colour palette? That's the only thing you see.

Gears 3 shines coz of its real time lightning effects and other effects like motion blur nd all, which is not there in Rage..Everything is pre-baked in Rage......Rage gets advantage of running at 60fps and Gears 3 run at 30fps hence it has tons more effects and action on screen compared to Rage....

but gears is entirely dependent on its color pallete

Even Gears 2 had lot of different collor pallete but it doesn't look as good as Gears 3 ....Color pallete is not everything....

Iam waiting for Digital foundry's Rage article....so that we can know how game looks so beautiful at 60fps.....

No.

What next? Uncharted is dependent on its colour palette?

What makes Gears 3 visually so impressive is a combination of factors. Lighting, art style, level design, visual effects, beautiful crispy textures and yes, the colour palette as well. Rage has static skyboxes, pre-baked light sources and some old school tech. Still it's a good looking game because it does the other things well.

F** can't believe this is a ID game..

You find it strange? Even Doom 3 settings were locked according to GPU VRAM. Doom 3 when came out brought top end systems at that time to their knees, people upgraded because of Doom 3. In fact, this is what you expect from ID in first place.

Game uses a single mega texture, there are no repeating textures plus there are no other hardware intensive effects in the game, everything is pre-baked in the game ..

A System with high-end 9 series gpu shud run it fine..Crysis 1 nd Metro 2033 are technically more advance games than Rage

DOOM3 used real time ightning effects nd all..It was not like Rage.

You didn't that for UC series yet ? Try to play the UC with black & white turned on for the TV and see for yourself.

Hmm.. if you're talking solely about colour palette, Rage looks quite dull compared to Gears 3. IMO anyway.

At least they're being upfront and honest about it. Most developers either sugarcoat it or just lie about this stuff just to please the crowd at the time.

Carmack: Developing RAGE for consoles was a big mistake

http://www.gamepur.com/news/5668-carmack-developing-rage-consoles-was-big-mistake.html

In an interview to PC Gamer, John Carmack said, "When we started on the game six years ago, I looked at the consoles and said ‘These are as good as the PCs that we're on here’, and our development strategy was set up such that we basically developed live on all the platforms there. And now when we’re looking at PCs that have ten times the horsepower of the consoles... I’m making a large change in my direction, just saying ‘We should be focusing on building things efficiently on the PC and [then] deploying on to consoles.’ And we didn’t make that as crisp of a distinction as we should have."

Carmack further explain how that will change going forward, "My development system now has twenty-four threads and twenty-four gigs of memory, and we can start putting on half a terabyte of solid state drives, and these are the things that are gonna drive the development process on the PC. So, I’m actually as excited about how we’re developing tht titles in this coming generation as the graphics enhancements and things that I’m gonna make."
