Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Announces Post-Apocalyptic Open World Action Game Mad Max

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Mad Max, a new open world, third-person action game where players become Mad Max, a lone warrior in a savage post-apocalyptic world where cars are the key to survival. The game will debut for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox One the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC.

Scheduled for release in 2014, Mad Max will deliver dynamic, open-world gameplay where gamers fight to stay alive in The Wasteland, using brutal on-ground and vehicular combat against vicious gangs of bandits. Players are challenged with treacherous missions as they scavenge the dangerous landscape for supplies to build the ultimate combat vehicle.

"Mad Max places gamers directly into the driver's seat of their ultimate customized vehicle to battle it out in the action-packed, open world of The Wasteland," said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production & Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "We are very pleased to work with Avalanche Studios to provide a next generation gaming experience with robust fighting paired with dynamic vehicular combat."

"Over a decade of creating open world experiences has led us to this point," said Christofer Sundberg, Avalanche Studios Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer. "The Wasteland lends itself incredibly well to the high level of player freedom with which Avalanche Studios has become synonymous. This unforgiving environment inspired us to create a gritty and diverse experience where driving, fighting and scavenging are essential for survival."

This game reveal impressed me the most in Sony conference. I had almost forgotten that Mad Max was rumored WIP title by Avalanche studios, and once the name Mad Max flashed, I was stoked. This game is made by Just Cause 2 devs guys, it is going to be EPIC.

Yup. It was one of the highest grossing series in Australia. Worth watching even now. It was way ahead of it's time IMO.

Here are it's references in popular culture:

New Mad Max doesn't have multiplayer

The upcoming open-world Mad Max game from Warner Bros. and Avalanche Studios does not include multiplayer, at least not at present.

"There's no multiplayer at the time," creative director Frank Rooke told GameSpot today. "It's a very strong single-player experience and of course Max is a loner and we're really focusing on that aspect of Max."

Mad Max Will Have Aussie Protagonist After All

Attn. fans who want Max to have an Aussie accent in #MadMaxGame : It shall be so. We admire your loyalty. You have been heard.

When Stephen saw it or, rather, heard it, Mad Max‘s characters had no Australian accents, and developers Avalanche Studios had no plans to include them, upsetting Mad Max devotees of all national origins. That posture has been officially reversed. Christofer Sundberg is the founder of Avalanche Studios, makers of badass action series such as Just Cause. So you may consider his word law. Glad we cleared that up! I know Luke will be pleased. Now, will Max walk with a limp? And will he drive a 1973 Ford XB Falcon GT351 Coupe?

I still fail to understand why Sony chose this game to be announced on their stage not giving time to either KZ gameplay nor Infamous Demo

Maybe they wanted to show strong 3rd party presence.
