Bayonetta 2 Not Selling Well in Japan Despite Critical Acclaim

Critics in Japan have loved Platinum Games' Bayonetta 2 so far. Famitsu gave it a 38/40, and Edge magazine awarded it a perfect 10/10. However, high critic scores do not automatically mean the game will fly off the shelves, as is evident right now in Japan.

In the first week of the game's release, it's only sold 33,114 copies. The first week the first game released, it sold over 130,000 copies. Now the big difference is that back then, it was a multiplatform title, and now it's only on the Wii U, which has a far smaller install base across the world.

Bayonetta 2 isn't releasing in the West until October, so time will tell if anything will improve, sales-wise. However, I'm not expecting too much of a difference, due to how few Wii Us exist in the wild.

This wouldnt sell even without exclusivity, dont blame wii u.

Boyo 1 dont really have that much replay value compared to other HnS games like devil may cry or ninja gaiden.. There are lots of flashy combos and weapons but still its not that repayable.

Bayo 1 doesn't even start to open up with its combos and accessories until you beat it twice. I've never played an SP action game with more replayability than Bayo 1. What else is there in an HnS game besides new combos and weapons/costumes when you replay it? The game rises up in difficulty perfectly unlike DMC as it is.

Bayonetta combos and weapons are fking awesome. but main problem was the lack of enemy variety and bosses wrent that well made, they are huge and dont have many moves. You face the same enemies on higher difficulties also. All difficulty levels are pretty much same, only the witch time power is restricted in higher difficulties.

In DMC all enemies devil trigger on higher difficulties and each playtrough on next difficulty level almost feels like a new one. In NG you even get new bosses on higher difficulties. That kind of repeatability isnt there in bayo. For 1-2 playtroughs it feels awesome and later it dont have much to offer.
