What crappy? HDMI sends digital signal. It either works or doesn't work. Only buy a new one if you need longer cable. It is not like analog cables (component, avi etc) where lossless points (gold plated etc) will give you better signal and quality.

No clue why but lately my Ps4 main menu screen has been showing quite a lot of pixelation . So maybe thrz a problem with my HDMI cable . Read online on a number of forums and most peope haven't even unpacked the Hdmi cable shipped with the Ps4 due to its bad quality!

As others have said - there is not "Bad" HDMI cable. It either works or it doesnt. If there is pixelation in your cable - get the cheapest replacement you can find on eBay. All the gold plated nonsense is utter marketing BS.

There is no such thing as a 'HDMI 1.4 cable'

A "1.4" cable is a big misconception, and stems from truly terrible monikers from HDMI Licensing. There are two aspects to HDMI: the cable and the connection. The cable is dumb, just passing along whatever data you give it. The connectionis where all the features are. There was a big push when 3D came out that you needed HDMI 1.4 to do 3D. This is true, but "1.4" is a connection spec, not a cable spec. Any high-speed HDMI cable can transmit 3D.

It's probably worth mentioning outright and again that you do not need a special HDMI cable for 3D. And if you want to get really specific, 3D on Blu-ray isn't a higher frame rate on the disc, it's technically a higher resolution. Wrap your head around that one (or not, it's explained in"How 3D content works: Blu-ray vs. broadcast" ).
