goneforever
I had a similar problem sometime in June I think. Try this http://www.shortpause.com/blog/2014/6/4/a-short-pause-remedy-for-slow-download-speeds-on-playstation-consoles I don't know why this works but it seemed to work for me. shadow storm
It helped but not as much 1 gb requires 3 hours to download
goneforever
I faced the same thing but after I made the changes speeds have been pretty good. 1GB takes about an hour or so where it used to take 3-4 hrs.
shadow storm
Your using a vita right how do you deal with the issue when it sleeps and the download pauses ,so many firm ware upgrades and still they haven't fixed this issue yet
goneforever
I think under the power settings you have to tick or untick that "use wifi in power save" mode. I don't have the Vita with me at the moment so I can't check if it should be ticked or unticked. Alternately if that does not fix the sleep issue open the photo album and start a slideshow. The Vita will not sleep (unless the battery runs out)

goneforever
Ok just checked my Vita and the "use wifi in power save" is unticked. As far as the speed issue is concerned have you tried any other isp? Maybe try a few minutes via phone hotspot and check speeds. It could be your ISP. shadow storm
I checked both ISPs are very slow Mtnl and Hathway I did use that option for wifi power saving doesn't help at all infact funny thing is Mtnl is faster than Hathway but just for vita for some reason it's extremely slow with Hathaway generally I get around 3 to 4 MB DNS setting did help with Hathway quite a bit I might add but it's still slower than Mtnl and my Mtnl speed cap is 1mbps ,Hathway is 50 Mbps cap so the whole thing is kind of mind boggling

goneforever
The power save setting is only to prevent the Vita from sleep when downloading. I'm sorry finding it hard to make sense of the previous comment MTNL cap is 1Mbps - ? Hathway is 50Mbps - ? What speeds are you getting on hathway and mtnl? I'm sorry finding it hard to make sense of the previous comment MTNL cap is 1Mbps - ? Hathway is 50Mbps - ? What speeds are you getting on hathway and mtnl? well it kind of is Mtnl and Hathway are As stated above but on the vita I hardly get any download speed with hathway and Mtnl I get approx 1 Mbps ,Hathway speed would around 256 Kbps around on the vita and the power saver option doesn't seem to work I have tried it . Well if the mtnl cap is 1Mbps and you're getting the same speed for downloads on the Vita then its a problem with Hathway. I had read somewhere about some providers employing throttling on some servers and I had faced an issue with Reliance on the PS3 about 2-3 years ago. If the power saver option isn't working then you'll have to use the photo workaround, but it does work for me.
