Destiny is a first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie and published by Activision. It was released on September 9, 2014, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles. Destiny marked Bungie's first new franchise since the Halo series, and the developers have a ten year plan for the franchise. Set in a "mythic science fiction" world, the game features a massively-multiplayer "shared-world" environment with elements of role-playing games.

Players take on the role of a Guardian, defenders of Earth's last safe city, as they wield a power called Light to protect the city from different alien races. The Guardians are tasked with reviving a celestial being called the Traveler, while journeying to different planets to investigate and destroy the alien threats before humanity is completely wiped out. Since launch, Bungie has released three expansion packs furthering the story and adding new content: The Dark Below in December 2014, House of Wolves in May 2015, and The Taken King in September 2015, which marked the beginning of year two of Destiny and changed a lot of the core gameplay.

Destiny: The Taken King is a major expansion pack for the first-person shooter Destiny, released on September 15, 2015nearly one year after the original release of Destiny. The third expansion of Destiny, it follows the Taken King Oryx, whose son Crota was killed by Guardians during the events of Destiny's first downloadable content pack, The Dark Below, and formed an army known as the "Taken"comprised of new versions of existing enemies with new abilities, to destroy them. The expansion adds new playable content across the game, including new campaign missions in a new player versus environment (PvE) area, multiplayer missions, player versus player (PvP) maps, gear, and weaponry.

An update delivered prior to the release of The Taken King also made fundamental changes to the core functionality of Destiny for all players to mark the start of "Year Two" of its lifecycle, including a new quest system and revisions to the game's levelling system among others. Through the development of The Taken King, Bungie also indicated a desire to address criticisms from players and other criticsincluding a greater focus on characterization and a clear storyline.

95% of your games thread belongs to same genre games...and already popular so nothing special you do...they are already huge sellers...infact look at AC3...one of the most highly anticipated game on this gen ....turns out many were disappointed...mark of the ninja is the only one i can give you credit for and that too if you believe in this saying..."ek doh teer toh andha kabhi nishana mein lag jata hai...." and it was just luck and not the skills like able to see what to expect froma gameby just looking at first teaser/trailer....that skill takes years to develop. B)

anyways hope atleast this game does not turn to sh*t...:P

Bungie will take a deep dive into the world of its yet-to-be-officially-announced new game, Destiny, during an hour-long lecture called "Brave New World: New Bungie IP" at the 2013 Game Developers Conference in March, according to the convention's schedule.

The presentation from design director Joe Staten and art director Christopher Barrett, both of whom are 11-year Bungie veterans, will give attendees "key insights into Bungie's battle-tested design process" and a look at the studio's "world building techniques, from concept to production." Staten and Barrett will also offer a look at the world of Destiny itself, which the studio refers to as "a place where the next ten years of great Bungie adventures will unfold."

There's no word on whether Bungie or Destiny publisher Activision plan to announce Destiny before GDC. But Bungie confirmed the game's existence by posting concept art on its website in November, in response to leaked documents and images detailing the project.

According to the leaked background information, which came from a document created by a marketing agency outside Bungie, Destiny takes place 700 years from now as the remnants of humanity attempt to defend the Last City on Earth from aliens trying to wipe out the human race and take over the planet. The document also said Destiny is in development on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the next Xbox, with future entries in the franchise set to be released on the next PlayStation console and Windows PC.

An alternate-reality game on Bungie's website hints at something on the way for its still-unannounced next-gen epic Destiny. True to Bungie form, the number seven plays an important role -- it's the only lit number on a countdown with "MONDAY" plastered behind it. Is it counting down to a reveal next Monday, seven days from now?

The ARG seems to require a mass contribution to unlock whatever secrets its mysterious pages hold. The first puzzle is simple enough: Click on the solitary diamonds to split them, creating to columns of four shapes. This opens the second, which says "Coordinate. Combine. Clarify." The bottom of the page also states, "Distributed, synchronous effort required."

Another page, labeled Instructions, reads as follows:

Our sky is filled with unseen signals. Radio-frequency emissions pulse and flit and dance all around us. Yet even a singing patch of sky can be observed, and transformed into a range of frequencies.

Can you hear it? No, not yet. It has not yet arrived. But together we can receive its call.

Imagine combining the observations of thousands across the globe on an object meandering through the heavens. The resulting array would be quite large. Quite powerful. This is your task.

Alone it will not be enough. Coordination and timing is needed. Observations must be made simultaneously.

Your window will be small. Five minutes at most. But windows may be reopened. And the distance between observer pairs will be key.

There will always be limitations in clarity, so the results must be archived for study. Highly technical observers may be required. Detailed frequency analysis is recommended.

Everything that belongs to us will be ours, but only if we create the capacity to receive it.

A metaphor for the rumored large-scale multiplayer to come, perhaps? And once again, the seven reoccurs in the number of paragraphs.

The page, it's worth noting, is called Alpha Lupi, which is the brightest star in the Lupus constellation.
