ganeshran
Hi, For the last few weeks, my PS3 no longer works on my HD monitor. The screen is black and goes to "no signal found". I have tried the long press to reset the PS3 but no help. The HDMI cable itself works because I use it for my laptop. The PS3 works on AV without any issues. Is there any additional troubleshooting that can be done or is the HDMI port fried? Thanks in Advance!

krehani29
Better so, when the PS3 is connected via the AV cable, go to the display settings and check if the output is set to HDMI and not AV. Change it to HDMI if it is set to AV. Then try connecting the PS3 via the HDMI and see if you get something on. Do the same with the sound settings to get the sound output. Source: happened to me as well. P.s-Try this before putting the PS3 in safe mode.

HotSonix
Thanks I'll google going into Safe Mode. Any idea what is the cost to repair HDMI port? Unofficially it depends state wise (2k-4k) Officially you will have to get your ps3 replaced by paying 50 % of current cost

ganeshran
Thanks All, I did both the troubleshooting stuff above. When I switch to HDMI both after restoring settings in Safe mode and before it, the screen switches off (both monitor and TV) and after 30 seconds the AV display kicks in. 50% of the current cost of the PS3 is too high for a 3.5 year console

Walker
Repairing it is an option however its very iffy. Best thing would be the replacement even if its more expensive. Sent from my Holly-U19 using Tapatalk

krehani29
Thanks Testi and Walker , I'm going to the service center tomorrow and will enquire them about the charges. Hold up, don't go to the service center just yet, you said the PS3 switches back to AV 30 secs after you switch the display to HDMI, right? What you need to do is- Connect the PS3 to the TV via the AV cable. Go to settings and change the display output to HDMI As soon as the screen goes black, connect the HDMI to the PS3 and the TV. Switch to the HDMI source in your TV See if you get any output Press X only after you see the output on the HDMI source. This process can also be done if you connect the PS3 and TV via both, the AV and the HDMI cables at the same time. Only press the X button after you see the output via HDMI on the selected HDMI source. What actually happens is that if you change the output from AV to HDMI, or vice-verse, the PS3 gives you a 30 sec time limit to check if you are getting the proper output via the selected option(AV or HDMI). If you do not see the message/prompt on the desired output mode and press the X button, it will revert back to the original output mode(in this case- AV).
