Steam key giving stopped for new buyers

Remember kids, stay away from sites like G2A or Kinguin. If you actually can't afford a game full price you're better off pirating it till it goes for sale than buying from these sites where the devs won't not only get any revenue at all but also are being hit by chargeback fees.
inb4 "I bought 10k M games from G2A and I didn't have any problem" comments. Congrats, you are still a piece of sh*t for supporting these sites.
Another link (courtesy of Movac) saying why pirating a game is a less damagin option than buying from G2A or similar places.
IVG pls stop the partnership with G2A

Abey mera matlab gift cards keys won't get revoked or banned like game Cd keys. Lot of people were contacting G2A customer service about Cd keys not working. So it's not safe to buy Cd key from there.

G2A also sells console games digital codes and most of them are invalid lol

and i used to always think these cheap keys come from third world countries with regional pricing

When you buy a key on G2A, a lot of the time you're buying a Steam Key somebody bought with a stolen credit card. When the cardholder inevitably finds out, they issue a chargeback and the credit card company refunds them, taking the money from the store (plus a fee), and giving it to the fraud victim. This means the store (or developer if they're selling direct) made negative money on the sale of that key, as TinyBuildand IndieGameStand have detailed. However, the thief still got paid. And so did G2A. So they do it again. And Again.

When you buy stolen G2A keys, forget "lost future sales" -- money is being taken out of developers' and publishers' pockets and given to literal thieves.

And what happens when you buy stolen goods? Sometimes the stores are able to track which keys have been fraudulently obtained, and they cancel them. So you just saved $10 by buying a game from G2A, but now your key's been revoked and you have nothing. Now G2A has defrauded you too! And no, they won't refund your money.

Those cards can also be bought by stolen cc. They won't get revoked, but you are buying stolen stuff which isn't good.

Greetings Engineer, Big Boss, PhantomShade, WhiteWolf et al,

Let me just reply to some of the issues mentioned in this topic.

1. The issue of buying with stolen credit cards - this issue is being fought with actively on the Marketplace and all instance where the Seller is proven to be using such techniques to obtain keys are met with strict response from our Security. All keys that become revoked as a result of this are being refunded, of course, all that needs to be done is reporting this fact to our Support department.

2. The volume of this phenomenon. Actually, the general volume of such issues with the keys sold on our Marketplace is minimal, kept on such a low point by our Solutions department and many layers of verification the Sellers need to go through for both their accounts and the keys they wish to sell. This way we are able to make sure the keys that reach the Marketplace are not obtained illegally. Of course, since there is a human factor included, there is always a possibility of someone being able to overcome these security measures, which is why we have many different Customer Support measures that allow you to report any and all instances of non-working keys in order for our specialists to offer you the most satisfactory solution.

Also, one mention on the source of the keys - re PhantomShade's post: this is one of the sources our independent Sellers obtain the keys from. All Sellers have their own ways to obtain keys, and their sources are their way to make a living, so we do not monitor and judge basing on this criterion: we only make sure that no key is obtained illegally.

If you have any further questions, keep in mind that you can always find additional information on G2A's FAQ page or by contacting us in 8 languages on helpdesk@g2a.com. Our consultants are there for you 24/7.

We hope to see you soon again at G2A.COM!

Peter
