Worth getting a PS Vita in 2016?

Guys I'm really confused. I want to get the Vita but so many sites say that the Vita just isn't worth it with its unimpressive library and lack of support from Sony.

My reasons for getting the Vita is the portability factor, playing game while in office or while traveling is the sole reason for getting it and Persona 4 Golden.

My favorite genre are RPGS, platformers, action adventure etc.

I'm do not own a ps4, so can't use Remote Play.

Basically I'm looking for hands on experiences of current/past owners.

It does have some good rpgs, platforms and action adventure games. Some of the good games are gravity rush, muramasa rebirth, persona 4, uncharted golden abyss, freedom wars, soul sacrifice, tearaway. And lot of good indie platforms. You can play most of the games if u have ps4 or ps3 but since u don't have ps4 itl keep u busy with quite a few games.

Regarding psp games it has backward compatibility right?
