E - BAY PlayStation 4 Deal

Hi fellow IVGer's. I was looking for a PS 4 for my friend and found this good deal on ebay for the bloodborne bundle :

http://www.ebay.in/itm/SONY-PLAYSTATION4-PS4-500GB-JETBLACK-CONSOLE-BLOODBORNE-BUNDLE-1Yr-SONY-WARANTY-/271890736878?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3f4df366ee

1. How has your experience with Ebay been for purchasing high value items?

2. Can I trust the price and the seller for the warranty?

3. Can Sony India reject warranty on any basis?

4. The seller has 99% ratings, I trust the console to work but what worries me is the warranty.

5. The seller replied that the product will be delivered with VAT bill. Seller is KwalitymobileS

Can someone please help me out here. Thanks in advance.

I bought it last week..Here is my experience:

1. How has your experience with Ebay been for purchasing high value items?- Pretty wierd. Paisa pay is bullsh!t. They held my payment for 2 days in Credit card (CC) for some reason. Repeatedly called them to complete the transaction. Later they requested to provide scan copy of ID with CC for "additional security". However, for some reason the payment was accepted after two days. Dint even send them the ID. Weird. (This did not happen to my friends who bought higher value items from Ebay)

2. Can I trust the price and the seller for the warranty?- You can trust the seller. Other than me, my friend also bought PS4 around 7 months back from the same guy. They are pretty good. Warranty is a whole different story though. More on this next.

3. Can Sony India reject warranty on any basis?- Honestly SONY can reject any warranty at anytime if they want. Period. Especially since last year Sony is really crapping on warranty of items bought online. Their general statement is that there should be a stamp on the warranty paper that come with the sealed box. Obviously, goods bought online will never have that. Some argue that its a lobbying trick to shoot sales of their brick and mortar "Sony Centers". Since this has happened to my friend who bought a sony ph from FK, it is safe to say that even buying from premier sites like FK does not secure ur warranty. However, some times they do accept. So it is entirely luck.

4. The seller has 99% ratings, I trust the console to work but what worries me is the warranty. See above. There is no difference if u buy from FK or from Ebay.

5. The seller replied that the product will be delivered with VAT bill. Seller is KwalitymobileS They do. My experience was great with the seller.

These are just my experience. It is upto you to buy the console. However, I felt that this was a pretty rad deal :-)

Yes,If the employee at the service centre is a smart a*s he will say "Online purchases pe warranty nahi hai" and shoo you away

However,Legally they can't refuse warranty if it is a VAT-paid bill.So threathen said smartass if you encounter him with legal action

Well, you can take your friend with you and if the service center guy shoos you away, tell your friend to take out his phone and start recording RIGHT IN FRONT of that service center guy and then tell him "say that again" :P

Am 100% sure he wouldn't want his face being recorded saying crap like that

"Their general statement is that there should be a stamp on the warranty paper that come with the sealed box.", That is - so full of crap.

Thanks a lot guys!!! I guess I will give a call to sony customer care and confirm their views on the stamp thing.

They'll tell you "warranty is valid only when bought from Authorized Retailers"

Authorized Retailer-> List of Retail/Online Stores specified in Sony website (e.g. Croma). Basically, the stores that don't usually sell below MRP.

P.S. Do let us know if you hear anything different from them now.

Yup. That is what the customer care guys told me too:(, That sucks, that means they will refuse warranty. Ain't that unfair??

One notable thing about the ebay seller, the invoice he sent me (I got mine from him as well) had full MRP on it, not the discounted price. That 'might' help in negotiating with Sony service, if it ever comes to that.

Update***

I spoke to the seller over phone and he told me not to tell the service center guys that it was purchased online and to tell them I got the PS 4 as a gift or I bought it directly from their shop in Madurai. He told me that Sony India can not refuse warranty as he is a dealer who bought the console from Sony India and has genuine Vat bill to prove it.

Guys, there is a brand new US PS4 I can snag for 26.9k. Worth it?

I think only the power connector needs to be taken care off right? Anything else I need to know. Should I pull the trigger?

Done. Ordered the Potatostation. Got a message from the seller almost instantly stating that it will be shipped tomorrow. F*cking A.

The no warranty thing is a bummer, but the deal is pretty much equivalent to what the current standard US price is retailing at, so just pray that nothing messes up. :)
