  • THE BASICS:

Max Payne 3 multiplayer holds up to 16 players. Taking out other players and completing tasks set within the game modes earns you XP, which allows you to level up. Levelling up brings you cash, which you then use to buy weapons, upgrades to weapons, other items, and special abilities called Bursts.

  • XP
XP is earned by scoring kills and assists. Earn enough XP and the player will rank up and receive cash bonuses. Increasing ranks equates to prestige and more cash to unlock Bursts, items, guns, etc. You can also earn XP by completing other small in-game objectives, like looting corpses.

  • Ranking
Using XP earned in the game, the player will rank up through 50 ranks, earning cash. A huge amount of the gameplay content (weapons, items, Bursts) will be available early on for a price, and players will be able to decide how they spend their cash and unlock content to meet their own requirements and preferences.

  • Game Modes (can be played in either soft lock or free aim):

    - Deathmatch
    - Team Deathmatch
    - Payne Killer
Payne Killer is a King-of-the-Hill style game, where Max and his partner Passos fight to stay alive for as long as possible. Payne Killer is designed to be the natural successor to Max Payne 2’s Dead Man Walking mode, only this time you’re playing against real people, who are all hunting you down, vying to be Max or Passos themselves.
    - Gang Wars
Gang Wars is the heart and soul of Max multiplayer, using key events of the single-player story as jump-off points for multiplayer matches with shifting objectives all linked by a shared story thread, maintaining both the fiction and the look and feel the single-player game, including motion-comics, seamless transitions and Max’s iconic voiceover. Players will never know what mode they will play next, with each gameplay type changing dynamically based on the events of the match before
    .

  • DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT (DLC)

Like all games, Max Payne 3 will get periodic multiplayer centric DLC from Rockstar and here is the release schedule:

    June 2012

    Local Justice Map Pack:
    - Police Precinct map for Gang Wars, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Payne Killer multiplayer modes.
    - Two additional maps for Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Payne Killer
    - New precinct-themed multiplayer avatar items
    - Multiplayer challenges

    Summer 2012:
    Disorganized Crime Map Pack
Deathmatch Made In Heaven Mode Pack
    Hostage Negotiation Map Pack
    New York Minute Co-Op Pack

    Fall 2012:
    Painful Memories Map Pack
    Trickle Down Economics Map Pack

You can pre-order Rockstar’s Season Pass and gain access to all the DLC at a discounted rate. It will cost you 2400 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live or $29.99 (Rs. 1593) on PlayStation Network and PC.

Of course watching is so much better than reading so here are the two multiplayer videos released by Rockstar themselves.

35 GB. Stupid dumbshit Rockstar. Neither of my 3 primary HDD partitions have that much free space. Will have to install on the second HDD. The port better not be a pile of monkey feces like GTA or LA Noire. I already hate that its using Rockstar social club instead of something thats simple and works flawlessly like Steamworks.

Anyway, enough ranting, I am in. Same tag as my username.
