Which ISP do you use for MP Gaming on PS4

Hey

Guys i mostly play OverWatch on my PS4 and i've a 8Mbps airtel broadbad connection, but I experience regular lag in between, and i'm even not using Wifi, i connect PS directly via ethernet, though I face no such issue with Hathway connection 50Mbps. I do understand connection speed difference here, but as far as i know 8Mbps is more then enough for gaming.

I'm a tech guy and i do understand how many other users are using also affects the internet performance, but I still experience same issue with Airtel.

Also on doing speedtest or other download test i do get stable 8Mbps. Even checked latency with google and other popular sites, it's almost same as my Hathway connection.

Are you guys also experiencing same issue with Airtel Broadband ?

^^ What he said. Though Nextra is not too expensive if you have high downloads every month.

I believe Airtel uses wireless technology to deliver internet vs optical or copper lines. Wireless will usually exhibit lag, but for a normal user it won't be evident as the lag will only appear every few millisecond. Not something you will notice when streaming or downloading if your speed is high.

Also, in before thread close?

Nextra has got to be the worst connection in terms of stability or even ATTEMPTING gaming.

It fluctuates RIDICULOUSLY bad. Even on twitch streams it can't handle one single stream at source which is mostly 1080p 30fps videos or a requirement of about 12 mbps. This is on a speed that Nextras speedtest, on THEIR servers show up as 20/20.

I have almost exclusively NEVER been a green bar in Destiny on the PS4. It's always a big yellow or a small yellow, which is even worse. It fluctuates down to red MULTIPLE times. As I write this out my f**king medium to high quality stream at 30fps is lagging for seconds on end though there is nothing else using my connection right now.

I'm stuck with it because there is no other ISP in or around Sarita Vihar New Delhi besides Nextra and Airtel. The random 20mbps speeds are good and most definitely the upload speed is fantastic when compared to airtel. Funnily enough the upload is much more stable on nextra than the download.

EDIT : Btw don't know what the *bleep* they changed recently but they have f**ked up my Nat on the PS4. First it was permanently failed, then it was showing as Nat 2 but still didn't log into Destiny AT ALL.

Do you guys have someone specific you call for your issues on Nextra? I have never had anyone responsible correct Nextra for me. Their service is dog sh*t as well.

I don't know what you're talking about, like seriously, because all these problems are alien to me. Never had any major issues with them, other than their pricing. Customer service is responsive, the network may go down, but very rarely it does (and it goes down for lot of top providers as well, so no big deal). I stream and upload effortlessly, the latency and upload speed is top notch. I t could be possible you live a fair amount of distance away from the "box" that maybe causing these issues.

Do you have Destiny or Cod or Battlefield by any chance? Mind streaming any of these games deathmatches?

I have NEVER had a stable connection on Nextra from my memory. It has to be the worst of the worst connections in Delhi. The only reason they survive is pretty much like Airtel they know there is no other ISP to compete with. Also, Nextra doesn't have bandwidth and cables of it's own it uses Airtels infrastructure and bandwidth that they pay for to provide these connections.

Nopes, not into shooters, can stream TLOU matches, though or maybe GTAV when I play

TLOU netcode has been made for peasants like us in third world countries. All ND games are playable and lag is unnoticeable.

GTA5 I can't say, I have never been able to test lag on Nextra on it.

I believe the ISP may not be a true ISP but rather a distributor of 1 single Internet to multiple locales. The correct term is CGNAT. What they do is, they acquire a dedicated Internet, and then share it with multiple households. Of course it's not as simple as it may seem.

This results in incorrect NAT being mapped to devices like the PS4(these guys are super sensitive to such settings unlike PC). Mostly because, they have 1 main router, then it broadcasts the Internet to multiple hubs, which will once again scatter it to house holds. Technically we are looking at 2 routes, so definitely a NAT2 for now. Throw in another home router at a consumer's residence and you get NAT3 or worse at times.

Of course the example above was hypothetical. Who knows how many junctions you may have. More junctions , more router like hubs, or switches.

Static IP from the ISP helps get NAT1 if the ethernet is directly hooked up to the console(only if there are no reroutes of course).

Sorry if digging up an old post.
