Protect PS4 from power cuts and surge.

Hi

I was playing bloodborne and power got cut 3 times today. I am kinda scared because every time I restart the game, a warning appears that your save file may get corrupt. I just fought Vicar Amelia and will be damned to loose progress. Can someone suggest a good way to save my PS4 and game save from getting fried? What is the cheapest/reliable UPS available online that can power my PS4 as well as a 32 inch LED.

P.N. I am kind of a dunce as far as electricity related physics and stuff is concerned so.....

Thanks a lot in advance.

Thank you @monokuma

Is there a good price - sweet spot for a UPS? at a price of around 2.5k - 3k, I mean I just need backup for both TV and PS4 for about 3 minutes so that I can just turn them off. Is 1100 KVA minimum for TV + PS4?

Problem is the 600VA ups might not support the TV and ps4 together on load. I had a APC600VA first when i was using a monitor and a ps4. After upgrading to a TV (50 inch with 120 Watt max power consumption) the ups would support the TV and the console only when i was on the menus.

When games were being played and ps4 was under more load, the ups just shuts off when there's a power cut. So had to upgrade to the 1100VA one. What's the wattage of your TV?

PS4's maximum power consumption is 250W and my TV is 120 so total = 370 watts under max load. 600 VA ups supports upto 300 or 330 watts AFAIK. Hence it switches off when load is more. The 1100 supports upto 660 watts.

Sorry, but how to figure it out?

It shows active : 82watts in a label behind the tv.

So I guess thats the TVs max power consumption. Just Google your TVs model number and see what's the power rating given online.

Even though ps4 power rating is 250 W, online its says during gameplay it touches around 150 or 180. With background downloads n other stuff it will go up. 250 watt ps4 + 82 watts TV = 332. APC 600 VA supports 360 watts as per their website. So you should be good to go with the APC 600VA. Bare minimum though.

Would still recommend the 1100VA model to be on the safer side.

I checked my TV model in the net and its wattage is 100 - 110 w so no problems there, I guess 360w 600VA UPS will do.

Thank You Monokuma. Now I can play bloodborne with less tension. Phew

^ Go for a 700VA or 800VA, 600VA model is cutting it too close.

I decided to go with this one:

Champion 800VA UPS for 2299 Rs/- Looks fine for my requirement.

Dude, go for APC. Reliable.

Edit: Seems like APC 800va is expensive. Haven't heard about champion brand though. Seems like a local assembled unit. Hope you have done your research..

http://www.snapdeal.com/product/intex-ups-protector-725/1187781560

one more thing i heard luminous inverters work fine for ps4

Put in another 400 bucks and go for the APC 600VA. Better product. You can get it for around 1850 after coupon on eBay. Had got my 600VA for 1900.

Any 600VA ups is more than enough just for the ps4..but go for better brands for reliability and service..

No clue about luminous inverters.

Not even heard of the brand kmkaks.

Luminous, is a decent brand but really cannot compare to the likes of APC.

Please stop cheapening out on protective gear guys, it will come back to bite you later. Have had bad experience with Intex and FronTech UPS (literally blew up under my PC).

Also, as far as I know, APC and MicroTek are the only brands which offer two year warranty on their UPS range.

Guess I will keep away from Champion. Don't want to fry my PS4 and TV!!

Luminous - 800VA UPS seems good for just around 3400 Rs?? Meets my requirement and has 2 year warranty. Luminous seems to have a quality control moto and all and their website looks decent. APC is way out of reach for me. Too expensive. I think luminous costs a little less because it is made in India. So yeah guess I will promote "Make in India".

APC is also made in India :P

Tell you what, you should be able to get a APC 600VA for around 1800 locally. Why not buy 2 of those? One for the PS4 and one for your tv. Will workout out to Rs.3600 or lesser if you can get a good deal.

ALPHA will be a better person to comment on Luminous, no clue about those..

Buy APC guys. Look for a deal on ebay with maybe a 15% off coupon. Also pay with mobikwik to get 10% cash back (upto Rs. 300)

I picked up the Back UPS Pro 1KVA for 6.8k after discounts last month. It is brilliant. The first one sort of tanked in the first week. APC replaced with a brand new one in less than 5 days. Brilliant service. The do DOA replacements for up to 1 month from date of purchase and two years warranty on both the UPS and the battery.

Get the 1100VA model as it is cheaper. You can always add more devices to the UPS later on if need be.

Cheers
