Stuff thats included in the package:

from joystiq.com

"Nintendo didn't just drop a Japanese release date and price for the 3DS tonight -- in a document (PDF) released following this evening's press conference, the company detailed more of the hardware's features, including unexpected pack-ins.

¥25,000 ($299) will net you -- among other things -- a charging cradle, 2GB SD card, telescoping metal stylus and six "paper cards" that can be used for playing the system's built-in augmented reality games. (The 3DS' outward-facing 3D camera will detect and replace them in the "scene" with different 3D objects.)

3DS will also perform some neat new tricks. It has backlit face buttons -- one of which is the Home button. When pressed, it will bring up an in-game menu enabling users to browse the web, turn Wi-Fi on/off and modify other settings without exiting.

Finally, there's a breakdown of the built-in software, which includes "Nintendo 3DS cameras," "Nintendo 3DS sound," Mii Studio," "Chance Encounter Mii Plaza," "AR Games" and "Book" (an ebook reader, perhaps?). Mii Studio is unique in that it allows players to snap photos of themselves to use as a basis for their Mii. More details as they hit."

More News

During the conference--live-blogged by Japanese gaming publication Famitsu and translated by GameSpot--Iwata went into more detail about the 3DS's other features, including the Tag Mode functionality and what appeared to be a Mii creation studio. A short video explaining the functions was shown, and featured Namco Bandai's Yozo Sakagami who talked about using Tag Mode for rankings and exchanging ghost data in Ridge Racer 3D. Capcom's Yoshinori Ono was also featured, with the Street Fighter IV producer talking about making a game where players could battle anywhere. Ono then confirmed Street Fighter IV for 3DS will support Wi-Fi play and Tag Mode.

The video also showed a functionality that will allow users to stop midgame to browse the web, send data wirelessly, as well as interact with other users who are walking nearby with a 3DS. The console can also connect to Wi-Fi when in sleep mode and automatically download data, including rankings, ghost rankings, and free software.

The 3DS will also be bundled with a 2GB SD card that will be able to store downloadable content. The handheld will also feature a Virtual Console service for Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles, while classic Nintendo titles will also have 3D support.

Iwata wrapped up the press conference by admitting that third-party games often don't sell well on Nintendo hardware, with Wii third-party game sales low in Japan and the first year of Nintendo DS software sales all coming from the publisher's own titles. This is something the publisher is hoping to rectify with the 3DS.

The conference ended with a video of publishers and developers singing the praises of the new handheld, including Capcom, Level-5, and Konami. According to Capcom, a new Resident Evil title, called Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, is also in development for the 3DS.

^^ yes ... its definitely gonna be 250$ in the US ... and knowing ninty it might even be 200$ ... there are games in japan that cost 100-120$..so pricing there should never be taken... even in EU regions the price is high ..US always has the least price...

Good thread.

Here is a video showing off the UI (very Wii like) and the bundled "apps".

Woah. MGS graphics are superb. Now if only they would port over the GC Metroid and zelda games too. Throw in SMG and its the greatest handheld ever.

Yeah it really should have been on the DS but I guess they were already working on PH around that time. Then on ST after that. Waste of time on both the titles if you as me (ST was better than PH but still).

Then again once its in my hands I doubt I will care about what it looks like.

Also weird that they didnt show off Splinter Cell chaos theory. But I guess a real stealth game might have made MGS 3 look bad. :P

Well those games are pretty good buys if ppl havent played the original and also its only like 10$... if OOT is gonna cost like every other 3DS game then I dont see many people getting it unless they bundle it or something...
