Thanks for your reply. Pretty confused as one of my frnd told me that importing electronics can cost even 200% import tax at times and he has experienced it for a iPhone. Can it happen for a PS3 also ?

Bro I think you're better off on Olx / IVG TP -- pretty solid deals I've seen off late.

You can easily get one for 6-8K IMO.

Maybe there were some additional fines for importing used products. Also the assessed value is at the descretion of evaluators. Declared value isn't always the final value for consideration.

But I'm not able to find any on IVG at the moment. And most PS3 sold in quikr/ olx are priced high. I've also come across a fraud seller in Quikr, which is a different story

If I request an eBay seller to send it as a gift can I escape the import? Any suggestions ppl...

Why don't you try buying from CeX? See if you can get a decent deal. Price may be on the higher side although they do give a 1 year warranty.

Yup it was my first option and also they givr 2 years warranty . But I got some bad reviews from people who had bought PS3 from there. Haven't visited the store yet.

I got PS Vita Japan Model from HK. I had previously bought many PS3 games and did not cost any tax but PS Vita cost me 5K. For PS Vita they charged me so much I would think PS3 would be lot more expensive. So I would not suggest you to import the console

I imported consoles from Japan twice (2 consoles each time) huge packages with tracking number

Wasnt asked to pay a single dime; walked away with both the packages from the post office; each time the package was > 5kg and huge enough to be carried in the car :P

But importing games has been a diff story; imported 2 collectors editions together from UK was slapped a huge fee
likewise imported a single standard edition from Japan of a retro game again had to pay import fee

Hmmm , guess I'll just wait for a better local offer because I don't want to end up paying a huge amount as import tax.

My PS3 stopped working for past some months. I am also looking for super slim. In flipkart or amazon review someone said he got it for 10K on Diwali sale.

I would definitely buy new super slim PS3 for 10K. 16K for 12gb is expensive. Hopefully I can get mine repaired

Yes , even I saw that. Actually it was for Rs. 8999 during the Dec sale in flip kart along with SBI 10% cashback. I could have got it for 8k !! But I decided not to as I had paid a quikr seller for the PS3 who eventually fooled me.

Did Quikr refund your amount? I guess they have an escrow service like eBay

Well, I had transferred amount to his account directly and he didn't respond once he got his money back. Cyber crime complaint is in action and his bank account has been blocked. But he has only 7k though I had transferred 12k (including courier !)

 You actually bypassed quikr safety assurance to save some money? Why would you trust a total stranger with that much money? :O

Yeah my bad. I'm the one to be blamed. And the funny part that guy still posts ads in quikr ! I even complained to quikr about this but they only remove the ad and not the user so he reposts again .

Its the same with IVG, I paid one guy 350 for Kinect Joy ride the bugger never shipped and mods here didnt even ban him eventhough I provided evidence; that guy still lurks around IVG with his multiple ids I presume.

My mistake, he had only one feedback, later on learnt that the feedback provided was a hand to hand deal.
