Do you Import Graphics Card?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

How many of you'll had import graphics card from USA??

I am considering buying one from there...Please share your experience and if it is really a good idea to go ahead and take the risk as i don't think there is any warranty on Imported GFX card.

I am considering this.

http://www.amazon.com/MSI-R7-370-GAMING-4G/dp/B00ZGF11YS/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1435994186&sr=1-8&keywords=graphics+card

or this

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZFNCD7K/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I need to be prepared before MGSV comes....i must play that game....

No warranty is a big bummer, think over it if it is worth the risk? Say one year down the line the card fails on you then you would be left with an expensive paperweight

Well u could get a evga ka gpu since only they offer global warranty

But buy it only if u are willing to ship it to taiwan ( i think thats the nearest evga service center....ispe thora research mar lena :P )

Unless there's a massive saving and you know you can get it through customs without duty, buy locally.

Also you don't save much on mid-low end cards like 370, so import only if you're getting something that costs 40k+ here.

Thanks guys.

Kya kare samaj mein nahi ata...PC gaming would be cheap but still i would need to spend good amount on GFX card....if i import PS4...i would end up spending huge amount on games and building up PS4 library....

@CC, i can get it import without paying customs...my relatives are coming from USA.

In that case, just get the EVGA model of any graphics card you desire coz even if it gets bad, you can AT LEAST send it to Taiwan (around 4k courier expense) and get it repaired :)

Check this out...

EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid

Get it if you can afford it or get the standard GTX 980 Ti :)

TBH I'm not a big fan of hybrid AIO coolers. It lowers the GPU temps but the VRMs are still air cooled, and usually by shitty cooling solution compared to proper third party air coolers. And VRM temps decide how high you can overclock, so even though you GPU core runs cooler you won't break the overclocking wall like you do with full custom water cooling.

Really appreciate the input. I'll remember that :)

Ambar Rs 8k-9k budget mein wohi nazar areha hai merako.. :(

Dude, 9k budget is very less. Don't expect maxed out 1080p gaming at that budget. You need to invest in a good video card so that AT LEAST you can be future proof for 1080p maxed out for the next 2 to 3 years.

I guess you could look at the GTX 960 (price in India is around 16k), but I don't think even that would be sufficient for the above statement.

Edit: Sorry for double post. Didn't realize it. Can anyone merge them please?

FWIW, there is not much cost savings when you import it (keeping the customs duty in mind). This goes for all cards.

If there is a huge discount you are getting, then go for it. e.g. Black Friday sale or manufacturer refurbished, etc.

Most of my cards were purchased from USA (1900XT, 4850, 4870, 970), I haven't had any issues with them, the price difference/availability was big plus. The best bet would be a brand like eVGA/Saphire that offers global warranty, if you dont have means to send the card back.

Most of the savings also come from frequent price drops. For eg, I can get 295x2 from US for less than 50k incl customs, same card costs 90k here. I can build rest of the PC in the money I saved lol. Same goes for latest 4k monitors, costs nearly half over there.
