Hi guys!

I just posted my first short gameplay video on my channel and would really like your feedback. Now do note that this is my first video and I have a ton of other videos lined up which have proper commentary. However, as a starter I wanted to do a small, simple and fun game and I wanted to see how this video comes across to you guys, SPECIFICALLY THE INDIAN AUDIENCE.

If you like my video do let me know on YouTube. I want to do this full time but I can't do so without your feedback and support, hell even my channel art is not upto mark yet but I am really excited so I didn't want to waste more time because I truly believe a proper gaming scene in India is long overdue.

Be BRUTALLY honest about my video in the comments section. I don't mind. But please, be honest - don't just hate because you want to hate. I don't just want to play a game and blabber gobar, I want to bring out quality content that will bring you enjoyment and each of your comments and likes are going to help me do that. Your two clicks will motivate me for years.Think of this video as a trailer if you will.

Thanks for the feedback guys!! Like I said, I am starting small and simple. As far as choosing a flash game as my first video? that was intentional. Anyone can start off with a brand new shiny triple A title and get their commentary overlooked by the awesomeness of the graphics or the hype to get quick views but keeping a person entertained through the shittiest of games is what I believe is the true mark of a gaming commentator. If he can do that, he can play through anything. Till now the only complaints are against the game though, so that's good. But I appreciate every feedback. In all honesty.

ALSO, was Indianisation of the game a good idea?

 

I will be coming up commentaries on Slender The 8 pages, Whack your boss, Destroy the Porn and Back to the Future by Telltale in a short time. Again.. simple games? Now you know the reason why (none of these games are shitty btw, they were quite fun). Games like COD, Battlefield, Witcher, Bloodborne etc. are fairly easy to commentate on so it's not the game I am concentrating on for now but the content I come up with through these simple games, which is not easy btw, not by a long shot.

 

Once these games are out of the way, THAT's when I'll be bringing out the big guns and I hope to see you guys then.

PS: This game has gotten multi million views when done by popular commentators and their commentary to a great degree was not entertaining whatsoever. You could check them out and once you do, if possible, watch my vid again to compare. I am trying to do this full time, that's how passionate I am for gaming and so it's impossible to think that I will only do flash games AND only in this filmy format. This was just the start.

 

OH! one last question, despite the weird game selection, did my video ENTERTAIN you? maybe not in the traditional sense of commentary but.. you get it. I have a BIG vision for gamers in India but I can't do that without your honest feedback.

If you are looking to be honest and yourself, chances are low that people will get entertained.

 

If you are looking to entertain, you'll have to be more vocal, have a variety of comebacks and rants. Just see the top 10 game reviewers and it's no coincidence that most of them hinge around anger and exaggerated disbelief. Indianization was good though, probably your USP.

 

But you could still target international audience as (with all due respect to IVG), the Indian audience is still not that big in number, nor that mature to be interested beyond the "slapstick" stuff spewed out by the likes of Kapil Sharma. And unfortunately Indians are not that funny or cute to the international community (well, except maybe Russel Peters and Papa CJ...). Asians have it pretty good there like higganigga or Kwondike.

Basically YouTube sucess is more based on randomness and the virality of one of your vids/gimmicks that introduces audience to your channel(e.g Boogie2988's "OMG FAT GUY DESTROYS XBOX 360 WITH AXE" went likr sort of viral and attracted attention to his channel)

Also Targetting the "Indian Gaming Audience" ? Who are like 5 ppl :lol: out of whom 4 play CoD4/FIFA/NFSMW/CS/DOTA Only? Good luck with that.Yes,I am exaggerating,but you get the gist

 

 

Also if you are targeting the "international" audience,Try a "satirical" or negative stereotypical portrayal of the "Indian Gamer" like thick "Indian" accent like the kind of Apu from the simpsons,Some "jokes" related to curry,which is the only thing they know and diarrhea,rape "jokes",Exaggerated jokes about your "poverty",How you have to skip days meals to pay for internet and general perviness

Trust me,The bulk of the "international" audience with their tiny stereotype friendly brains will love it :lol:

I had thought about what you have said some time back. It is true that the gaming commentary scene in India hasn't reached that level yet which I found to be really surprising, an entire nation of people with more than 60% in the young bracket and who have played games and no one likes gaming commentary? Yes, the commentary scene IS a bit materialistic with the best looking ones usually making a big mark but I did notice that these guys bring SOME value to the table. They entertain in their own little way which makes them unique and THAT counts, cuz good looking guys ki kami nahi hain duniya mein. Sure I am fat and not that good looking, but hey, I can always not eat and put on Fair and Handsome like a boss! :punk:

 

As far as rants and comebacks are concerned, I ask you to watch my Destroy the Porn gameplay in it's entirety if you can and let me know if it comes close to entertaining. As a beginner I did find it funny myself but I do apologize for the length. I mean.. I AM a newbie in this area after all. But I appreciate the advice and I will work on it.
