Report: Activision to Set up Film Studio to Produce Movies and TV Shows Based on Properties

Reports have surfaced online claiming that publishing giant Activision is planning to set up a film studio to produce movies and TV shows based on the properties that it owns, such as the Call of Duty franchise. This news comes from technology and business site The Information as reported by Engadget. Do note that the full article is behind a paywall, but the description reads:

“The publisher of blockbuster games including “Call of Duty” and “Skylanders” is currently mulling a plan to launch an entertainment studio, where it would produce its own movies and TV shows rather than simply license its titles to outside partners.”

There’s no comment from Activision as of yet but previously, the publisher wasn’t really receptive of the idea of turning its hit games into movies.
