bene-violent!
Hi Guys, I needed some help. So I have this old graphics card: PALIT ATI RADEON HD4850 Sonic Special Edition [512MB, 256bit, GDDR5] I recently upgraded by GPU to MSI AMD/ATI R7 260X2GD5 OCV3 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card I needed some help/suggestions as what to do with it. I am not sure if I can sell it because it's outdated. Even if I do sell it, I am not sure how much it could fetch. Is there anything I can do with it? Crossfire? Stack it under my pillow? Use its fan in the summer!?? Do help here guys. Cheers [i am too old for this sh!t] Ben
harjas
Other than selling U could build a htpc out of it
mayu
Keep it as a back up card, or maybe give it away to some friend who is using onboard graphics According to TomsHardware (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html) 4850 HD is in same group as R7 250, but probably will be held back by only 512 MB VRAM For Crossfire, you will need similar card (gpu) You can check other forums, quikr/olx like sites to get idea of the price for 2nd hand deal
kemosabe
First clean the card, fans with a camera lens cleaner blower and brush and keep it aside safely for back up. It always nice to have extra set of back up device. Also you can build up a media pc or low powered pc for download , light gaming for your dad/mom/brother/wife etc
goDofWar_skr
I had read long back in some article that with Direct x12, there will be support for crossfire/SLI with different GPUs.. Not 100% sure though.. try googling about this.. If it is indeed possible, may be you could crossfire it..
Aftrunner
Other than selling U could build a htpc out of it This more or less. Doubt selling it would even be worth the trouble. Its beyond outdated. Donating it to a younger cousin or nephew is also a good idea.
