Eurogamer portugal review

"The note does not mean perfection, it means the quality of the game that distinguishes itself from others in its genre. The epic campaign alone would be enough to ensure its high quality but the Insomniac gives us the competitive and cooperative modes that elevates the game to a higher level. Resistance 2 is an epic that deserves to be part of any Playstation 3."

If an alien invasion ever were to actually happen, what would you do? Would you resist like the brave folk seen in this trailer or would you just run away? These are questions you'll have to ask yourself when it's time to confront Resistance 2 this week. You've only got a day to mull it over before taking on the fight for freedom tomorrow, November 4.

Resist it.

Cheat CC Review - 4.8 / 5

Graphics - 4.8

About as good of graphics as I've ever seen on a gaming console. The game is visually stunning in every regard, except for the stupid fire and explosion effects. However, the overall technical stability of the game is worth the low-res effects!

Control - 5.0

The controls are ideal - perfectly responsive! You'll be mowing through Chimera like a pro.

Music / Sound FX / Voice Acting - 4.0

The background music is sparse (bluesy riffs in Chicago were cool, though). The sound effects were spot on. However, I did miss resounding musical themes and Captain Parker's narration.

Play Value - 4.8

The single-player campaign is short (time flies when you're having fun), but the online multiplayer options, both co-op and competitive, will keep you playing for a good long while.

Overall Rating - Must Buy - 4.8 / 5

Not an average. See Rating legend above for a final score breakdown.

Relatively early in the Campaign Mode of Resistance, our hero Nathan Hale bursts out onto the shoreline quay to be confronted by a horizon dominated by a cloud-sized Chimera ship, looming over the suspension bridge with the surrounding sky teeming with tinier enemy craft. It’s a moment intended to illustrate the seemingly insurmountable odds facing humanity, but more importantly it’s the first time you get a clear picture of how special Resistance 2 really is. The detail, scale and sheer menace of the scene, combined with the timing of reveal, make it an open-jaw moment of awe, the type that HDTVs were made for.

Resistance 2 is definitely a solid first person shooter. With the single player campaign, co-op campaign and multiplayer mode, the game has enough content packed in to last a very long time.

A+

It's an FPS that accomplishes the rare feat of being both rock-hard and rewarding. There's still room for a few surprises, but right now, there aren't many shooters this year that can stand up to Resistance 2.

4.5/5

With everything we see in Resistance 2: huge boss battles, massive enemy encounters, 30 cinematics,

online 3-8 player co-op, offline co-op, splitscreen, competive gameplay and MyResistance.net free

tracking services, it’s extremely lucid that Resistance 2 isn’t a dream anymore. The developers made

a game with amazing replayability that totals more than 420 hours to unlock all the content. It’s very

difficult to play Resistance 2 without noting the orchestral direction, the high resolution graphical candies

laying around, and everything happening on screen. But here’s a strong suggestion to any potential

player: don’t worry about all that fight for humanity stuff. Simply stop for a second to look to the sky.

Try to breathe in the stench of victory in a torn America, or just watch how sunlight stretches the

reaches of Orick, California. Resistance 2 is more than just a game that does everything right in a first

person shooter. It’s an experience after all.

The game, though, is a tense thriller that will immerse players into that sense of desperation as the remains of the human race fight for survival against increasingly overwhelming odds. The pacing is frenetic, the sense of urgency comes through loud and clear. Resistance 2 is a solid game, that looks stunning, but the game’s length and the linearity of the levels might prove to be a little much for some players.

From the genuinely engrossing single-player campaign to 60-player multiplayer matches, there's an enormous amount of well-polished goodness to be had here. It's not perfect, but Resistance 2 has definitely earned a place among the hallowed few: It's a must-have console shooter.

Resistance 2 is one of this year’s standout first-person shooters, but its single-player campaign ultimately isn’t as satisfying as this title’s stellar multiplayer modes. To be fair, many of the concessions the team made to the single-player campaign also lead to this game’s addictive multiplayer experience. For multiplayer fans, Resistance 2 delivers everything you could want from a game, but the single-player experience sadly falls short of expectations.

In Play Asia it says "US, No Region Protection". So does that mean it will work on PAL consoles too or just NTSC? Sorry but I have not used play asia before and do not want to end up with a copy that does not work.
