THE 'PS3 and PSP FIRMWARE' THREAD

THE DIRECTOR

* DivX and VC-1 (WMV) have been added to the types of files that can be played. *

* Blu-ray Disc Profile 1.1 is now supported. **

* [bD Data Utility] has been added. ***

PS3's getting more and more irresistible. As expected DivX will be there before Christmas eve. This is the best Christmas Gift any PS3 owner can get from Sony.

the 2gb restrictions are pretty vague - whether they apply only to .wmv and .avi containers OR divx and vc1 codecs is open for interpretation.

a 2gb restriction on .avi containers doesnt bother me much - most 44min tv shows encoded in hr.xvid format (and using .avi containers) are below that file size in any case, and x264 hdrips generally use the mkv container (vc1 wmv hdrips are the problem child for now - will check if there is any tool that allows you to split these files with ease)

KOTAKU up to its tricks again

Unfortunately XviD is still not supported, which means that people with a large number of anime fansubs (not naming any names here) will have to stick to computer viewing for the time being. *sigh*

sorry kotaku you fail, everyone who's updated so far (ps forums,gaf etc) have all confirmed xvids to be working

DIE KOTAKU DIE
