WhiteWolf
Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono has revealed in the latest edition of Japanese gaming publication Famitsu that the company won’t greenlight a AAA game sequel without over 2 million sales. Ono: That's what I've always been telling the company too. But at the end of the day, there are just some brick walls that a salaryman can never overcome *laughs*. For instance, if a game doesn't sell over 2 million copies, then we'd have to put the brakes on any plans for a sequel. All that means is that we weren't capable enough. And all we can do after that is to reflect on the experience, take what we can learn from it, and try to apply those lessons on some other title. http://mynintendonews.com/2014/10/08/capcom-wont-work-on-a-aaa-sequel-unless-its-predecessor-sold-over-2-million-units/ Over 2 million: -Resident Evil 6: 5.9 million-Street Fighter IV: 3.3 million-Marvel vs Capcom 3 Fate of Two Worlds: 2.2 million [Note: This has licensing issues and is pretty borderline.]Not over 2 million: -Street Fighter X Tekken: 1.7 million-DmC Devil May Cry: 1.6 million-Dead Rising 3: 1.4 million [Note: This was a launch title and published by MS, and DR2 did 2.9 million, so it's a bit more open.]-Dragon's Dogma: 1.3 million-Lost Planet 3: Less than 1 million http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=908903

Aftrunner
Considering the costs of development of next gen titles, 2 million in sales to green light a sequel isn't unreasonable TBH.

KyoyaHibari
DMC sold around 2 mil at its peak time. I don't think they'll make another one considering how less HnS games sell these days.

Shadoken
Dragons dogma was easily one of the best rpg last gen. And combat wise it was the best. Idiots should have launched it on PC Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

They should at-least release a remaster version for PS4, X1 and PC. Not really interested in any other Crap-com game. They have already killed RE and DMC
Shadoken
though hopefully they will stop their shitty outsourced projects like Lp3, remember me and all that. But this is about as good a confirmation for SF5 by Ono. SF4,SSF4 and Arcade edition all crossed 2m units. No excuse capcom. And no wonder they aren't working on any wii u title, noway any non-Nintendo title is going above 2m on that system Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Shadoken
Iam quite excited for RE:R2 You should probably add RE:R to the list i guess. How come wet never got Onimusha 5. All the games are above 2m, we din even get 1 HD title Also Ono made this comment in regards to darkstalkers, The psn/xbla version din cross 2m unlike mvc2 or sf2. Screw you guys who didn't buy Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Sach4life
Fair enough. It doesn't make sense for any developer to make sequel of a AAA game that didn't sell 2 million combined on all platfoms in these times.
devil_angel
If I were Capcom, I'd at least concentrate on making some good lower budget next gen titles, even AAs sor so.
