Credit Cards not working with xbox.com/XBL

hey guys,

As you might be aware, the Reserve Bank of India has issued directions adding an extra layer of security to all online transactions. After the usual check out you're redirected to the bank's website where you have to enter your password and only then does the transaction get authorised.

Unfortunately, good old ms hasn't implemented this payment gateway mechanism yet.... so all you'll get are authorisation denied messages... hmm i've tried a fair number of times but couldn't get it to work... i feel a gt ban coming on :samui:

anyone else having the same problem? and is there any way to get ms points for an indian gt apart from buying them on xbl/xbox.com?

Oh yeah, the same problem with paypal as well. can't get the site to authorise my credit card which was working fine!

Alternate solution kudos to tushiq for bringing the win:

1. Log on to maximuscards.com

2. Pick 1600 MS Points (US)

3. Pay using Google Checkout or Paypal

4. A code would be emailed to the email account of your choice

5. Redeem code on XBL

6. Enjoy

Something similar was happening to me too a couple of weeks ago. It will not process any transaction over 500Rs. So I ended up buying 500 MS points X 3.

Try that.

nope. still the same ...

Your credit card could not be authorized. Please contact your credit card provider, or enter a different credit card.

and the funny thing is i renewed my xbl gold membership on Aug 15 and it worked fine... some bizarre thing. Don't see any point in yelling at customer care also. fat lot of good that'll do!

Same here. i tried to buy 12 month gold for 3days straight.. gave up and ordered from buyoriginalms.com. CC worked there with no problems.

yeah that would work because its localised for India. Hope someone draws Microsoft's attention to this soon, coz the entire point of marketplace is defeated if indian ccs dont work on it!

im pretty sure they'll do something about it, since they want all our moneys anyway :ack:

sorry about double posting.

I spoke to xbox support and they said they're aware of the problem with the payment gateway on xbox.com... so they should fix it sometime in the future...

Atleast they knew about the issue so thats a good thing i guess.

guys if you're really desperate you could try ordering points from http://www.grooveindia.com its pretty ok at 940 bucks for 1600 ms points. way less than what the GI vendor wanted.

i too got my cc to work... but for some reason, 2 transactions was charged to me by microsoft... one was the charge for the points and an additional Rs.50 ...i dont know why they did that..i called up tech support and informed them bout this additional 50 charge... they said it might be a bank fault and to contact them again if it shows up in the statement... ne one else has got this extra 50 charge???
