KnackChap
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/09/1...licant_trailer/ As revealed earlier this week, NieR RepliCant is the PS3's counterpart to Xbox 360's NieR Gestalt. Both games put players in control of a character named "Nier," although the two characters do appear to be different, with the 360 Nier looking far older than the PS3 version's. The two versions also have a mix of similarities and differences in their basic premise. Both games have Nier on a quest to find a cure for an illness afflicting a family member. In Gestalt, the family member is Nier's daughter. In RepliCant, it's his younger sister, Yonah. Of particular note is the Kaine, a white-haired girl who appears to be in both versions of the game (she was in 360 version screenshots). She serves as a partner character to Nier. In addition to her upper left body being possessed by a demon, she's described as a hermaphrodite. She was bullied as a child for the former, and choses to show off her female side more than needed, which is why her clothing looks the way that it does. Her speech and actions do not match this look, though.

shockwave
Looks like Hack n slash: * Experience a rick, twisting storyline of a world plagued by human anguish, buried secrets and a ravaging disease. * Explore a beautiful, immersive world presented in signature Square Enix style. * Diverse and action-packed gameplay heightened by a combination of chain attacks and crushing magic abilities. * Multiple weapons to master, each with its own characteristics. * Unlock magic abilities to unleash crushing blows to enemies near and far. Source: http://www.niergame.com/ By the way, listen to this awesome song on their jp website: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/nier/ Listen carefully .. the opening lyrics almost convinced me that the song was in Hindi. "Kya hai, Woh pyar hi toh ..." Somehow reminded me of "My Own Home" from The Jungle book, though it's a class apart.
playstation
Japan Loves NierSquare Enix's latest epic adventure, Nier, is off to a good start in Japan, with the only available in Japan version, Neir Replicant, topping the country's weekly software sales chart. Japan also has access to the other version of Nier, known as Nier Gestalt and released on the Xbox 360, but it didn't fare as well as the version starring a younger Nier. The version tailored to Western audiences managed to crack the top 30, but not the top ten. There were a handful of other releases and re-releases scoring top ten showings, including the "Game of the Year" edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the latest Ys role-playing game for the PSP. The rest of the Media Create top ten contains mostly evergreen Nintendo titles, like New Super Mario Bros., edging ever closer to the 4 million mark in Japan, and Nintendo DS game Tomodachi Collection. Keyofx
I think a large reason for that is there just aren't as many local games being released in Japan as there used to be. Gamers don't have much choice so they'll buy whatever.

Was not sure since the game had two threads and all. But checked the wiki and it seems thats all the difference.
