Snake
My Buddy Jay aka Major_Minor says the game looks completely washed out and bland...he was even more disappointed than i was, since he is a huge fan of the series,Played the first game just on his recommendation and was stunned!!!! killroy
This game is all about atmosphere. The first game had it in spades. Freaked me out many a time. Too bad there were a myriad of mission glitches to infuriate gamers.
Tyler
I absolutely loved the first one. It's one of the best shooters of all time. However, I never got a chance to play Clear Sky (I don't think it was ever released here officially). Anyway Shadow of Chernobyl is available for 299/-. For those who game on their PCs (and haven't played it yet), get it!

killroy
To be honest...this game feels at home on the PC. Im not sure if console gamers will want to play this. Lots and lots of patience required...and the mechanics are not run of the mill.

It may look somewhat similar but it's a very different game. And yes, lots of patience is required. I still remember getting my a*s handed over to me repeatedly until I got my hands on some of the better guns and finally started making some headway. The atmosphere is unbeatable. Exploring those abandoned villages at night...

Snake
The atmosphere in the first game was so depressing,i got depressed in real life.... The rain..the desolate landscape....the darkness...nothing to hear besides the sound of rain on the ground......it was brilliant!!!
Nemo
what BS about 'ment for P'c and 'will not please console gamers' ?? I mean its a game right ?? so its ment for the gamers. I dont know what is the classification of a 'console' gamer but if it is "the one who does not like the atmospheric orgasm that is shown in the 5 min trailer posted above somewhere" then i can assure you that i am the black sheep of the family Its just the financial constraints of being a student that i have just one gaming system. Seriously though games are for gamers. There is no such thing as "This game is too hardcore for consolites blah blah" Well of course as long as you dont put it on the wii(Yeah thats a anti wii comment, and no I dont give a sh*t) *Waits for keeznah to come in screaming on top of his lungs*
killroy
Both of you miss the point. What they show in the trailer is not exactly how the game plays out...Anyways...if you want to give it a shot, sure go ahead...good for the devs. But remember we warned you before. I mean checking the Uncharted 2 thread makes me feel that way. Most of them are going on and on about 'best single player experience ever'. Which i'm not really feeling. And Im sure the people who have played countless old games may also not feel. (ha ha this was easy...) /waits for imminent flood On a serious note, the devs are not a huge studio that can port games left and right. So they probably want to stick to the easiest place to develop games. The PC. @ People who have played Clear Sky...I havent given it a shot yet, but know its not the same guy from the first game and it takes place in the same time frame as the first game. Is it worth checking out or basically the same game with slight differences? @hellsboy: You say there can be no games hardcore enough for consolites and then go ahead and make your Wii statement. Super Mario Galaxy was Game of the Year at many publications beating out many mammoth releases. Guess you are not HARDCORE enough to appreciate that eh? Too bad for you. killroy
After playing the game for a day, that radioactive, "Krr Krr" used to ring in my ears.
Tyler
The difference between a game like STALKER and something like Uncharted, COD or Gears Of War is like night and day. They simply cannot be compared. Most of the big titles have lightning fast pacing, moving you from one set piece to the next. It's like you're on an auto-pilot ride. Like the ones you'd find in Universal Studios or Disneyland. STALKER is deliberately slow, most of the time nothing seems to happen. You feel like a nobody, a tiny speck in a much larger world. You are not an uber-soldier like Master Chief or a wisecracking adventurer like Nathan Drake. Granted that many who love exploration and take their time with a game will appreciate it. Those who go into game simply because of the "shooter" tag will no doubt be disappointed. It's much closer to an RPG than an FPS. @karooo, totally! the endings were awesome and some were like a slap to your face. And you couldn't blame the game for that. It just gave you an ending based on what you did throughout the game. I got the "rich" ending the first time. so you can imagine...
killroy
Agree with Tyler on every point, Always felt a sense of loneliness while playing this. Every NPC was a welcome sight, relief almost in those barren lands.
Karooo
The game was really hard at the start + those mutated dogs It depends a lot on strategy how you approach each battle, most of the time i ran as fast as i could to the objective avoiding conflict. killroy
Also if you remember, the aiming was off. I mean not in a bad way. They wanted more realism I guess. Recoil on some guns was whaaack! That made it hard in the initial stages.
