Before the dust settled on the beginning of this year's Video Game Awards on Spike, the first surprise announcement was the revelation that Batman: Arkham Asylum would get a sequel.

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 -- which is what we'll call it until an official title is revealed -- presumably continues where the original critically acclaimed Rocksteady title left off, and was revealed via diabolical plot from Batman's Nemesis The Joker. Attempting to gas those in attendance, Mark Hamill's threatening vocals reverberated throughout the audience revealing a sequel people "didn't expect." After smashing through sales charts and the assumptions that all licensed titles are crap, we expected nothing less. Take that, Joker!

Let me be the first to say too soon.

Assuming its a 2010 release (which I think is very likely) I dont honestly see how they can make a great sequel with enough new ideas. I mean even CoD games have a turnaround time of 2 years and they still end up looking like clones of each other.

I believe 2010 could not have started in a better way.... and please don't FAP GOW3 all over me :yucK:

I beleive they are going to create a mini-Arkham+mini-Gotham ...

Something I noticed about the trailer
-The Doors look same as AA 1
-Joker's Face still looks smashed
-Joker on blood dosage
-Why does Harley not speak?
-Maybe they have devided the city into levels
and maybe the last one will take in an amusement park or FUN HOUSE like the "Killing Joke"

@aftrunner- they must hav it preplanned and also some it (or whole of it) is gonna take place outside AA. so its good.

Why Arkham again? Why not use a different setting and plotline? The Batman franchise has so much potential.

Either way, I hope it turns out to be as good if not better than AA.

The trailer suggests that the inmates of the Asylum have moved into or rather broken free into Gotham City. Thats why it says 'Arkham has moved'. Should be very very intresting.

Seems like it. Considering the trailer didn't exactly show the title either. In which case it's a good thing. It's like a proper sequel that expands upon the first game.

I think, it will not get the same love as original...BBATMANN AA ..only original game won nothing at VGA..all awards for Sequels :x

i dont wanna be the annoying bum that shouts out THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END but it will be very difficult for them to have a great master piece like AA so soon.

but then again, Rocksteady DID came up from no where to steal the show and they do have the perfect engine and basic batman ideas from the first game.

Hoping for the very best. A gotham surrounding seems nice but PLEASE NO FREE ROAM. a semi free roam-linear cross like Arkham is perfect for batman game, it will be hard this time when they are looking for a full city. I guess (and want) that they are using the concept from NO MANS LAND story arc where an earthquake has hit Gotham, inter city travel is blocked cause of rubble, the US govt has isolated the city and riots are breaking out cause of no law order.

it would be tough to maintain stealth in free roaming environment but that is the fun/challenge with "batman" !!!

So Eidos/Square Enix is not publishing this? WB has its own publishing business it seems. Eidos must have only signed a one-game deal.
