Super Street Fighter IV

It sure is. Even if Tata's routing sucks, I don't see why the lag should be worse than what I got with US players while playing DoA4 on the xbl.

it really depends on your ... well Luck :scratchchin:

still unable to figure out a pattern for the damn random behavior, except that I will NEVER connect with Mel

that stays affirm

can you please elaborate >

There is a specific port for different activities. Like streaming videos, online gaming and so on. Port Forwarding basically ensures the right data is sent to the right port.

Connections like Airtel usually provide a dynamic IP, which means it keeps on changing. This also means every time the IP changes, the ports also change.

Similarly the ps3 also has different ports assigned to different things. So if you don't configure them properly, gaming data will end up being sent from a port not assigned for gaming data.

Sorry if this is all confusing.

But all you have to do is open up all the ports on your ps3. The process is called DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone).

Heres the guide I used:

And a more in-depth one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-c24SKRTfQ

But be careful while doing this. I messed up my connection and had to get new DNS servers from Airtel.

Lemme know if you need any help.

I just might create a step-by-step tutorial cuz some other people I know wanna do it too.

and your game is really well suited for Ken, really aggressive, though do not jump in so much, you will eat a lot of anti air against good players

although I am not much of a player myself, still I would anti air you with Balrog whole day if there was no lag

Yeah I know. Some of the jump-ins are involuntary <.<

I have a long way to go. Need more practice. And an Arcade Stick.

It just depends on your and your opponents network connection.

Before opening up my ports, I could never ever connect with you. I always got the 'Unable to join' message. But not anymore.

I don't think the problem with us is port forwarding. Unless you are getting NAT 3 then your ports are fine.

And for DNS you can use google or open dns.

exactly my thoughts :good:

thanks for the enlightening information (I have been an IT Developer for 6 years BTW <_< )

although I think the DMZ is fine with my PS3, I would still check to be sure

Routing is very important...Atleast afaik in this game if you get a ping of anything above 150ms its Unplayable/wont be any bars on the connection.... but in other games it would still be playable....

I get around 120-110ms with the Japanese players (All of them irrespective of connection proly coz well its fukin JAPAN!) and i get orange...

With Singapore players i get around 60-50ms with people having good connections (yellow or green bar) with other SG players its more than 100 or even 150 i get either orange or no bar with them(Again what Connection you have is important)

In India i get good connection with Avkash/Laxlight/Orion and even Mel(atleast the last time i fought him) ..and i always get yellow sometimes green...Theres a guy in chennai who uses BSNL and i get 0 bar....

Opening ports/DMZ all probably help with joining games..but once you join them the connection is still the same....

Also woudnt FPS matter when it comes to lag??..... I mean 150ms might be ok on 30FPS games but 60FPS games would be affected a lot more....

Edit : This is the input lag found in various games...when played offline this is the lag between when you actually press the button the action is performed on screen...

Halo 3 100ms-150ms

Mirror's Edge 133ms

Street Fighter IV 67ms

Ridge Racer 7 - 66.7ms

PS3 XMB - 50ms

• Most 60 Frames Per Second (FPS) games have a 66.67ms latency - Ridge Racer 7, for example.

• 30 FPS games have a minimum potential lag of 100ms, but many exceed this.

Again to summarize here, a 67ms input delay is typically the best input delay a game running at 60 FPS achieves. But when frame rates drop below this, the input latency can get worse.

So it looks like Capcom did a very good job of getting optimizing controller input latency for Street Fighter 4

Now when you look at this the input lag in Halo and ME might seem horrid ,But its not...theses games run at 30fps compare that to games that runs at 60fps like SF4 ...so i guess internet lag of 150ms affects 60fps games alot more than a 30fps game...which is why Shooters might seem better given the same amount of internet lag... I am not sure about DOA4 ,perhaps that game is 30fps too???

need help u guys.wen i type my IP address in the address bar it just shows a blank

can you please elaborate as to what the problem exactly is and the machine which you are facing the problem on

Street Fighter IV 67ms

67 ms lag is unbelievable

one frame for 60 fps is like 16.7 ms, so it is like 4 frames of pure lag -- will make it very difficult to hit a one frame links

but now I know how YOU hit them :naughty:

Well outside of my secret method  ...

Links arent a problem humans need around 180ms(Around 15F ?) to react to something and that too only if its something your expecting.... We normally just Muscle memory links so no matter what the conditions are even if the lag is 10000ms as long as the lag is uniform you will still get the link...

But anyway you cant notice lag which is around 5f or even in the case of Halo 3 although it varies upto 160ms its still not noticeable...

Its a known fact that the xbox version has around 5f of input lag while the ps3 version has close to 7f (This itself should be more than enough to make XBL the better choice) ....

We get around 10f of lag(12f in the ps3s case) in a green bar connection...its somewhat ok here but you will start missing certain anti-airs that require strict timing (Like Guys C.MP ) its active only for 2f so with lag it would be hard...this lag is definitely noticeable but adaptable....not recommended for high level play....

Now when you go to yellow bar or above the game changes...certain moves which could be reacted to in an offline game become extremely hard to react to...

Now in a 30fps game for a green bar connection the lag is gonna be 5f ...unlike the 10f which 60fps game would have...so the game is playable almost upto 300ms and for a 60fps game ud need 150ms to play the game...

Here is a perfect example about what i was talking about human reaction time

@2:54 ... Fei long has no health and Dudley tried to chip him with EX MGB(15f startup)....dudley did a random EX MGB and Fei was able to react to it with DP

@3:49 ... Same situation... but over here Dudley did a LP MGB (same thing but doesnt go full screen) to bait... Fei took the bait and did a DP...

It takes around 15f to react to something ONLY if you are expecting it...if anything else happens you are bound to react to that the same way...

He pwned you with hakan eh ? :giggle: .... Yea hes good , but he relies on a lot of unsafe tricks (Hakan slide ..etc) and lacks footsies..

Am going to my friends place for an offline session... We might troll for a while online though...

the ps3 version runs 7frames slower than the 360 version. if it had friggin 7 frames of input lag i wont be playing it lol.

anyways the ae version is 10 frames slower than the 360 version.
