am planning to buy a new TV this weekend. The options am looking at are

http://www.in.lge.com/Product/Products-Det...parent=LCD%20TV - LG 42LH70

http://www.in.lge.com/Product/Products-Det...parent=LCD%20TV - LG42LH50

http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/tv-audi...&returnurl= - samsung LA40B550K1R

I am little bit inclined towards LG as i heard that samsung tv's have problems when viewing angle is not proper. LG doesn't seem to have this problem.

My budget is around 60 - 70K. Please help me decide a model. If some other model is better than the ones i mentioned let me know.

If any body has already taken LG models plz lemme know their personal experiences.

I want to have this TV by the time GOW3 releases :chair:

I don't know much about these TVs but AFAIK nothing beats Sony when it comes to LCD/LED technology. A friend of mine picked up a Sony 46" LCD EX500 from the grey market for 75k with home delivery :O It was imported from singapore, and directly went to his place fromt he airport :O It's one of the best with really good features put into one budget LCD :P For example, MotionFlow 120 hz and Bravia Engine 3

Why don't you check that out

Also, officially in Sony showrooms, we were getting a 40" EX500 for 72k :P

Sony is not the best in LCD.

Samsung will be a great choice.

LG is VFM...

LG and Samsung are both great. Both companies manufacture their own panels and have a terrific amount of tech and features thrown in for the price. Sony buys LCD panels from outside supplier, one of the them ironically being Samsung. Sony's advantage has been in the use of its proprietary video circuitry, called the Bravia Engine, but that advantage has narrowed or nearly disappeared in recent months.

Between LG and Samsung models available in India, both are almost indistinguishable from each other at the same price point. What I would suggest you look for is features like
- number of ports
- types of ports
- ease of use of the menu, etc.

Do not get swayed by 120Hz / 240 Hz and all that crap. Its useless for movies right now and actually worsens the viewing experience. Its also completely unutilized by game consoles. It only makes sense if you are going to connect a PC to the TV.

BTW: Samsung's LED TVs are the best consumer pieces available right now. I have been using one for the past two weeks and its simply astonishing.

Except the plasmas generally have a lower native resolution.

do compare the blacks levels though

plasma usually have batter black levels though the new samsung led tvs compare with the plasmas...

and also plasmas are more lifelike... colors might appear to be less saturated but the picture is more soothing to the eyes ...

but again LCD/LCD tvs are the future...

n between samsung n LG, no review has ever given better scores to LG than samsung.... if u do not take into consideration the 3D TVs that sony is about to launch, then the current lineup of samsung is way better than sony...
they are sleek, stylish good picture quality and pocket burn proof

anyways it all boils down to your personal preferences...

always compare the same material on both the tvs simultaneously if possible... that is the best judge..

hope this helps

Not just blacks - everything. And half the price of a LED. LCDs are no comparison to a plasma for picture quality. Plus if one has to play games then plasma's better because refresh rate is faster.

But honestly, the best way is to go to a mall which has 50 TVs side by side and see the same video. Ambi mall in gurgaon has a sweet setup. LED / LCD / Plasma side by side in the Samsung area - that's how I selected the plasma. I saw Bolt in HD on all three simultaneously and couldn't find any difference.

To add to that, imho, you should take a favorite DVD/Blu-Ray (depending on what you plan on watching more of) along and ask them to play it. And then, trust your eyes.

I suggest a HD sports video or Planet Earth - anything which shows corals etc. The colours really come out.
