How do I add pics to my contacts on SII? Also, can I merge contacts so that 1 contact may contain 2 or more numbers?

I just bought a barely used Dell XCD35 (Gen 2 with 512 MB RAM
Now, I am very VERY new to Android and am still searching the forums and reading a lot and getting to know the general terms, words, etc., and had a few questions to ask you guys.
Well, my PC is connected to the internet via a USB modem and I don't have wifi, hence I cannot connect my phone to the internet to get the basic apps to get me started. This is why I'll be taking my phone to my friends house who has wifi and get all the apps installed on my phone. Now after searching on forums for the most basic must have apps, I have made a list and would really appreciate if you guys can have a look at it and suggest me whether they are good or suggest me a better app or if they are not at all required
Alright, so here goes....
Astro File Manager (to manage files and install apks)
PowerAMP Music Player (I guess this is better than "Apollo")
App 2 SD Pro (install apps to SD card I guess to save phone memory)
RAM Manager (I read the thread and it seems quite good - Do I need this ?)
Screenshot ER - OR - Screenshot It (please recommend one)
SetCPU for Root Users
Autostarts
CacheMate for Root Users (is this needed?)
VPlayer (plays .mkv so I think it's good)
Documents To Go 3.0 Main App (view text files, MS doc, excel, etc ?)
SwiftKey 3
The reason I ask is because I don't know whether I need these or something better is already in ICS 4.04. Another MAJOR reason is I'll get to do this once when am at my friends house, and once am back home, I won't be able to access net on my phone.
Any help in this regards would be highly appreciated.
Thanx a lot in advance. Desperately waiting for a reply
Edit: I would also appreciate it if you guys can recommend any other must-have apps that I might have missed
Edit II: Currently, I have Vodafone (Mumbai Circle) (Billing) and am thinking of speaking with them and see if I can get internet started on this number

Instead of booting an OS, boot to gecko boots gecko, i.e., the firefox rendering engine, resulting in a boot time of < 2 seconds, and every app is a web app!
Live demo(open in firefox and use mouse to swipe the screen): http://paulrouget.com/e/b2gdemo
Mozilla official site: https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G
Im stuck with a HTC desire HD right now, which Boot to gecko is yet to give any sort of support for. Their code is open source though...

What do you think ?
By the way, do I really need Avast Antivirus ? I mean is the Android "scene" so corrupted with viruses, etc., ? Also, if it keeps running, do you think I'll see a decrease in performance in games/videos ?

Regarding apps, for the free ones just search online for the APK on your PC and download the APK files. Then copy to the phone and install. Suggestion : download MyPhoneExplorer on your PC for this and sync.
The internet on your phone should be 3G for you to enjoy good speed of internet. Alternative is to connect the phone to your PC via wifi (get a USB Wifi dongle for your PC first).
Also, the ICS ROM you have, does FM work on that? Coz I've been looking out for a good ICS ROM for my wife's phone (Orange San Francisco, same base model).

Enjoy what you do!

Alright, so here's the list...
Astro Manager - Root Explorer - ES File Explorer File Manager - EStrongs Inc. (whichever one I just need it to install .apks)
PowerAMP Music Player
App 2 SD Pro (won't I need it to transfer installed apps to SD card ?)
To Do List Widget Lite

System Tuner Pro
MX Video Player
Kingsoft office

SD Maid

Barcode Scanner

What do you think ?
@piper. No FM does not work currently. I have ICS 4.04 ColdFuxionX rom installed.
Also, @piper, is it possible to install a .apk with MyPhoneExplorer ? If yes, then how ? I need to install a file manager that can allow me to install other .apks. That's the main reason for me to go to my friend's house since I can't do it at my place
Edit: By the way, I need a few accessories for this phone, which I tried getting locally but they were not available. I need a scratch guard and a good silicone/jelly case or anything for that matter (Amzer would be awesome though).
I searched a lot and only found a scratch guard on flipkart and this silicone case....

Is this any good ? Are there any better alternatives available ? If so, can you please link em ?
Would really appreciate it.
Thanx a lot guys

But first mingle with ur device, many stuffs like screenshot and moving apps to sd are default features of latest android. Get familiar and get the apps.
First thing u should get now is a data plan, 2G/3G anything.
