CarbonCore
Games Radar give Manhunt 2 a 9/10 and says its one of the best games on Wii. http://www.gamesradar.com/us/wii/game/revi...020611162342033 "Manhunt 2 is one of the best games on Wii. The astonishing level of brutality is an integral part of the experience, and probably the aspect that delighted fans and appalled detractors alike will focus on, but there’s a lot more to it than just digital blood". MarketTantrik
M-rated Manhunt 2 coming on Halloween From Joystiq http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/24/m-rated-...g-on-halloween/ ____________________________________________ After temporarily suspending release of the AO-rated game back in June, Rockstar Games today announced a modified, M-rated version of Manhunt 2 will be release for the PS2, PSP and Wii on Oct. 31, 2007. "Manhunt 2 is important to us, and we're glad it can finally be appreciated as a gaming experience," Rockstar founder and president Sam Houser, said in a press release. "Manhunt 2 is a powerful piece of interactive story telling that is a unique video game experience. We think horror fans will love it." The original Adults Only rating was a kiss of death for the game, leading to self-imposed bans from console makers and rental houses. It's still unclear exactly what modifications were necessary to achieve the lower rating and what effect the modifications will have on on Manhunt 2 bans in England, Ireland and other countries. Whatever effect the controversy had on the game's content, you can bet that all the drama will have a positive effect on the game's sales. Remember, 2 Live Crew's As Nasty As They Wanna Be sold over two million copies despite being patently awful, all thanks to the magic of controversy. ____________________________________________ Rejoice, oh fans of the kiddy console. Time to grow up !!
Ne0
if they have dumbed down the game, it would definitely lose its appeal....manhunt is nothing without the raw sadism and gore for which its (in)famous !
MarketTantrik
They would have probably dumbed down the killing motions on the Wii version so that its not a "murder simulator" anymore.
Ne0
no i think they would have dumbed down the gory/ghastly killings. The game was rated AO on all the consoles, not only wii. Last i heard, you could jab a pen in a guard's eye with blood splattering all over the camera - now who wouldnt give it a AO rating ? But thats what manhunt games are all about - sick, sadist and gory !
MadridistaLove
its a pity wen rockstar games get banned! rockstar is awesome....... give da game 18+.......if dey want it to stay out of ""children's reach"" gta:sa waz voted as 1 of da most controversial games coz of sum of its adult themes......(gta:sa proved to be da best around).....bully waz also in trouble...... really hope gta4 gets a clear way! Ne0
^^ the problem is that once a game gets a AO rating, then no consolemaker will allow that to come on their console. Also, many retail outlets like wal-mart have a policy not to sell AO games. So, in case, R* continues to sell its AO games, then, it has to release it only on PC and that too the retail reach will be very minimal....that should explain why R* backed out ! MarketTantrik
Manhunt 2 heading to Holland from Joystiq ________________________________ Not everyone is getting in the way of Manhunt 2. The Dutch Ministry is allowing Rockstar's controversial sequel to be released in Holland. According to a report from Eurogamer, the Ministry said that getting involved would "break the regional law which considers adults capable of making their own decisions." The game will be prohibited for those under the age of 16. Additionally, Justice Minister Hirsch Ballin is calling for a unified EU ratings system and said that they are looking into new laws for safeguarding children. As for the rest of Europe, it seems as though the "Banhunt" will stick. _____________________________________________
Hahaman
The saga of Manhunt 2 ban has came to an odd conclusion: Rockstar will release a tuned down version of Manhunt 2 next Halloween but P2P users have already put their hands on an uncut version of Manhunt 2, complete with all its Adults Only content. The game was leaked by a cracking group named DAGGER which claims to have got it from a Netherland's source. Some sources claim that the 2.2GB ISO image is for a beta version of the pre-edited Manhunt 2, but more reliable source confirmed that the leaked game is a final version. Netherland doesn't have any legal mechanism for banning, and it has been confirmed by their parliament that Manhunt 2 can be released there in its uncut form. On the other side, Sony prohibits Adult Only games from getting the necessary digital signatures to run on Playstation.

MarketTantrik
IGN Previews the dumbed down Manhunt 2 http://psp.ign.com/articles/819/819477p1.html ________________________________________________ What has changed? Most of the content is still there. "Danny can still saw into the heads of enemies, or bludgeon them with a blunt object, or stab them, or use a syringe on them, or even use the environments to take them out," Matt Casamassima writes. "In one sequence, Danny uses a sewer cap to decapitate a hunter, at which point the enemy's body fell into the sewer hole." I think it's safe to say the controversy over this title isn't over. The main change is the removal of the major death strikes, the ultra-gory killing moves that effectively work like Fatalities from Mortal Kombat, just far more disturbing. They're still in the game, but you can't tell what's going on. The new animations now have "an extreme blur effect," and the graphics are too dark to tell what's going on. Casamassima describes the new animations as being a "garbled, motiony mess that's far less satisfying." ___________________________________________________________ Frankly, I didnt enjoy the first Manhunt much and I dont think I'll be missing out on anything special by avoiding the sequel --MT
