The very fact that we now have furious debates on IOs Vs android proves that we have a healthy competition to the iPhones now.

My personal belief is that Android will be a big story in 2011, it gives flexibility & power to the consumer, unlike the competition which is always so guarded and under-clocked, you pay for 1ghz and you get 800mhz !

3 lakhs android activation per day is something that does not unnoticed. With sub 6k capacitative touch screen Ideos release around the corner it is even breaking new grounds and will reach new market segments. I'll put my penny on the android market any day. I was trying to line up apps for the android that I was using on the iphone earlier, and was surprised to see that at least 70% had android releases. On the contrary, the same apps on the android has better features. For the rest that were not there, most had replacements. Only around 5%-10% of my iphone apps did not had replacements, but then those were very specific purpose apps, and I'm sure they will find its way soon. Note, this does not include games, I dont use them on the phone.

Though to add...... Desire HD is launched in India, and so Desire prices have been dropped. Few of HD'd noticeable features .....duel LED flash, native 720p recording, 4.3" screen. wifi n, DLNA, 8 megapix camm, ....so on and so forth ......

The iPad runs at 1 Ghz as it was mentioned it does in the keynote. Nowhere is it stated that the iPhone4 runs at 1 ghz. It uses the same A4 proc yes, but clock speeds were not announced. So u dint pay for it . Besides, its not like 1Ghz phones are buttersmooth anyway. *cough* Samsung *cough*. Its how well you've optimized your OS to run on available resources.

Guarded and unguarded appstores have both their pros and cons. Neither one is better than the other. Look at the shovelware on the market. Besides, 95% of the time, the guarded and unguarded argument makes no difference to the end customer because even if its guarded, he has apps for almost everything he needs to do with his/her phone. So i dont see how being guarded has ever been a problem.

The desire HD has a very low capacity battery i.e 1230 mAH. I have no idea why they went with that seeing that 1500 mAH is the bar now. I'm not a spec wh*re and maybe a good 1230 mAH might outdo a bad 1500 mAH battery, but reports of battery life isn't spectacular either.

Battery is a downer but leaving thay and the fact that there are a couple of design faults the phone is amazing

About battery,............... on the contrary, I am somehow for what ever reason getting a better backup with HD, and I think that might be because of more RAM, which makes the phone at ease while running background applications. I dont know I am just gussing, earlier I was not able to cross 6-7 hrs on regular use now I am touching 10 and with heavy use 6 hours ...... I am pretty satisfied with this backup .....

Design flaw ???? well apart from having a huge screen which makes it almost impossible to navigate using one hand, I dont see any design flaw as as such, I am eager to hear your take on this ....????

well for me battery is okayish,earlier i had a nokia E61i and i used to get a whole day with it.But 6 hrs is acceptable
Well there are a bit of design flaws like the volume rocker button and the switch off button are totally flat so much so that it becomes hard to distinguish it from the rest of the surface,I initially had a problem with the battery compartment because the darn thing wasn't closing completely plus if you notice,the camera is jutting out which isnt good for the lens

You can just do it bro.
In my opinion iPhone rests on mere snob value its s good phone with a good display granted but factors like its fragility,lack of warranty,iOS,cost,and a smaller screen size size made HTC better for me.
And I font see the iPhone being in anyway better than dhd it might not be worse butts certainly not better

My colleague bought the HTC Desire HD and I must say that it is quite an impressive phone. Now the one area where I am concerned, specially after reading all the posts here is the battery life. My music playback alone is 5-6 hours during office time (1 hour travel time, and 4-5 hours in the office depending upon the kind of workload I have). I don't worry about battery in my iPhone as it lasts me 12+ hours easily.

Does anyone here have any idea about the Nexus S phone, specially regarding the battery life? Apart from that aspect, how would people here rate Nexus against the Desire HD?

For me iPhone doesn't work, or shall I say....OSX doesn't work...... to be more precise, i want to customize/use my phone the way I want and not the way Apple wants, and with iPhones its always the latter one.

Stop calling the OS that runs the iDevices OSX . Its iOS. Lot of difference between the two

And Android isn't necessarily better than iOS or vice versa. It might work for you, but not everyone else.

yea I know what OSX is..... loozzz ..... what I meant with X was "any version" ..... like iOS"xxx" (yea I think I should have kept X in lowercase) ..... cant believe anyone explaining me what OSX is .... . BTW the OS on iPhone is a variant of the same Darwin operating system core that is found on Mac OS X. And ANDROID isnt only working for me, it working for most of us out there, decreasing the monopoly of Apple by a fair margin .....

Video calling does not work with Desire ...... No front camera .... But yea Fringe as a chat application works, though I prefer ebuddy on desire

Wildfire seems like more value for money at 13k whereas desire is priced at around 22k.Also looking into desire hd but not sure of the price(can you enlighten me on this?).
So what phone would you suggest?I mean if wildfire is good i can go for that and save like 11k.But if there is a major performance difference, i dont mind spending extra.All i want to know is that whether desire is worth spending 11k extra.

well i am no phone expert,

but i heard rumours that htc desire 2 is coming out? i am not sure...both wildfire and desire now are older phones, so if you can wait there will be newer model coming out, ofcourse they keep coming out all the time so its upto you entirely to buy either or wait.

the major difference between wildfire and desire i think is the processor and screen resolution. my wife uses a wildfire phone, and it does the job of a descent phone. it entirely depends on you if you are ok with slighly lower specs. if you can afford the desire go for that.

i just got myself an htc desire hd last week, and loving the phone. price of desire HD is roughly i think 28k but i got mine from the grey market for 25k (if you are ok with that, consider that)

the big screen is a beast and makes the experience very good.
