STICK3Rboy
L.A. Noire Published by: Rockstar Games Developed by: Team Bondi Platform: PS3, Xbox 360 Release Date: Q2 2011 L.A. Noire is an upcoming video game developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games for the PlayStation 3. L.A. Noire is set in "a perfectly re-created Los Angeles" of the late 1940s, with players being given an open-ended challenge to solve a series of murders. The postwar setting will include the noir necessity of corruption, as well as drugs and jazz themes. The game uses a distinctive noire colouring-style to strengthen the feeling from detective movies of the '40s.L.A. Noire is also notable for using Lightsprint's real-time global illumination technology *The game will be a free-roaming title with a historically-accurate recreation of Los Angeles in 1947. *Team Bondi has even hired a costume designer to research the clothing of the era so the game's attire can be accurate. *Aside from main story, side missions will be based on actual cases pulled straight of the newspapers of 1947. *A US Marine plays a big role in the story. *Not so exclusive...but LA Noire definitely ain't coming to Xbox 360, the size of the game is an obstacle to this. STICK3Rboy
http://www.digitalbattle.com/2008/01/05/la...ng-to-xbox-360/ LA Noire Coming To Xbox 360? Rockstar’s upcoming — and very hush-hush — game LA Noire is said to be released on the Xbox 360, in addition to the PS3 version. The game, developed by Team Bondi, was meant to be a PS3 exclusive, but a recent job posting looking for Xbox 360 developers could mean that Noire will get a 360 version. Nothing is official, nothing really was ever official, but it gives some hope to Xbox 360 owners of playing the 1940s detective thriller.

SchizoidFreud
L.A. Noire: A Year Off and No Longer PS3 Exclusive? Tom Crago, the CEO of Tantalus and the president of the Game Developers' Association of Australia, yesterday gave an overview of the Australian game development industry at GC Asia 2008, and IGN was there to nab a few little tidbits on L.A. Noire, the Rockstar-published game being developed out of Team Bondi in Sydney. No one has heard anything on the title for some time, but Crago confirmed that "it's got - I'd suggest - another year or so to go". He also mentioned that it "could be the biggest budget videogame in development anywhere in the world. It would certainly... in terms of console titles, be in the top ten... LA Noire is a massive massive project." And last, but by no means least, he mentioned that the game is coming to PS3 and 360 - up until now the title has only been confirmed for PS3. We'll let you know as soon as we can get independent confirmation from either Team Bondi or Rockstar. Mr Crago also spoke of L.A. Noire's importance to the Australian development industry, saying that: "It's one that we hold huge hopes for. It has been said about Australia that we've not been that successful putting out a title that really has set the world on fire; a big budget title that's sold multiple million copies and that has really put us on the map as a hub for videogame development. There are plenty of people who are hoping that L.A. Noire will be that title."
Bulovski
When people start saying massive massive projects I get scared. I call it the "Too Human" effect.
MarketTantrik
LA Noire still has a good eight years to go to catch up with Too Human, although I shudder to think of what Duke Nukem Forever will turn out to be like.
Keyofx
+1. Brendan McNamara knows how to tell a story, which is the most important thing to me. Same goes for IO and Kane and Lynch. A well directed and paced game can save itself even if the gameplay turns out to be a bit unpolished.

Keyofx
Well, it's really hard to be angry at how much your assault rifle recoils when you're so taken in by the awesome contemporary level design A run through a fully modeled prison complex, from visitors area to exercise yard? A muddy construction site duel with a dump truck in the rain (EPIC. The force unleashed has a similar level, except with a star destroyer)? A whole street and bus station in Tokyo with the PA system blaring bus schedules and the cops shouting you down in Japanese? A shoot out a diner? I could go on. Not to mention the sublime Jesper Kyd soundtrack. Or Kane's monologues during missions or as he dying. Oh wait, did I forget the bank heist and the chase that ends up in a subway tunnel with trains passing by on either side and swat guys trying to bring your crime spree to an end? And it's all wonderfully written. If you love genre films, you'll love K&L. And if Too Human just had the story to back it up and not make me laugh at it instead, I'd have bought it. The pretentious dev diaries were very well produced though, I just wish they'd put that effort into producing the game instead. PS: Rappelling down a skyscraper, breaking up a board meeting and fighting through the building. Yes, K&L wins.
MarketTantrik
PS: Rappelling down a skyscraper, breaking up a board meeting and fighting through the building. Yes, K&L wins. This was in the demo and the horrible controls killed any idea I entertained of buying the game.
Keyofx
True, but the whole point of that giant slab of text behind you is that the story, level design and production values more than make up for it. Doubly so if you're a genre whatever nut. Your opinion doesn't surprise me one bit. It can't have sold badly for no reason, after all. They should have held it back so they could polish (and then re-polish) the controls. And with the current single strike policy that publishers are adopting, we'll never see a sequel. Which doesn't really matter, because this is one of the FEW games with a self contained story. It wasn't written to have a sequel. Much love for that as well. MarketTantrik
I wonder if the PC version has any mods or settings files which can be used to get the controls "under control".
Keyofx
It isn't just the controls that need fixing, mind you. The no-button computer-assisted cover system was infuriating, mostly because it would occasionally refuse to stick me behind cover even though I wanted it to :/ Lotsa problems. Also, two endings, with the second one getting a whole extra level. And split screen co-op has extra levels in store for the chap/chapette playing as Lynch. He's a bit off (and prone to hallucination) so his levels play on that, with people having animal heads, voices from dead folk, etc. You'll only see them in co-op though. Ne0
R* seems to be MS's bitch now first GTA IV excl content and now LA Noire is MP ??
Ne0
Not really. It is more because Sony is no longer the publisher of the game and Rockstar is the new publisher. The new Sony "policy" is to fund their own studios as opposed to funding third party studios. Considering the budget they are touting it needs to be on ALL consoles to make a decent profit. I think R* was the publisher of the game since it was announced ? Just that ealier it was PS3 exclusive, don't know why suddenly R* changed their minds ! supersim
LA Noire one of the most expensive games ever, may be coming to 360 too It's been a while since we heard from LA Noire, Team Bondi's mysterious noir game which was announced ... and well, that's about all. Originally announced for the PS3, it appears the game's incredible production costs may have transitioned it to a multiplatform title. Tom Crago, CEO of Team Bondi called their upcoming game as one of "the biggest budget videogame in development anywhere in the world. It would certainly ... in terms of console titles, be in the top ten... LA Noire is a massive massive project." According to IGN, Crago supposedly mentioned the project was hitting both PS3 and Xbox 360. Could PS3 have lost yet another exclusive? We'll have to wait and see once Team Bondi makes an official statement.
