Full Specification’s:

Review:
I got this Tablet hybrid as an end of the exam gift,I have had plenty of time to play with it and get to know its in and outs. The TF101 is a unique tablet in the sense that it comes with a proper Keyboard docking station, which houses its own Battery,2 USB Ports and one Micro SD adapter slot. On the Tab itself we have Mini HDMI,a Audio Jack, and another MicroSD slot. With the combination of this and the keyboard dock the ASUS Eeepad offers a very comprehensive connectivity solution. Its really convenient because you can both use it as a tablet and as a Non Windows Laptop. The Battery Life is spectacular it gives full 16 hours with the docking station.Under the hood The ASUS EeePad has the all powerful Nvidea Tegra 2,in all my 3 days of continous usage I have had a butter smooth experience with the OS I have tried typing using the Polaris Office application, both with the dock and the touchscreen keyboard. The touch screen keyboard by the way is much like Swype except with a weaker prediction engine.Video Playback was superb (I watched all episodes of FullMetal Alchemist on it) and Games had no Framerate issues. The Tegra zone (A game store exclusive for Tegra devices) is very young at this stage:There are only handful of games out of which only two are free-So dont expect much out of it,however I did try Galaxy on Fire 2 and the Graphical quality is indeed Console standards.

Controlling the cursor with the mouse on the keyboard dock takes a little time getting used to,and so does the scrolling. For purposes such as net browsing I prefer using the Tablet itself. The design is pretty nice and compact and easy to use while travelling, and as far as the weight is concerned its obviously a little heavy once you attach the keyboard dock but still manageable to carry. Its pretty easy to use the Tablet in say taking notes in class (With the dock),watching a video, reading an ebook and all other usual things Tablets are expected to do. The Tablet comes with the “Google Music” App as default so you can listen to your whole music library if you are a beta user which is pretty thoughtful of ASUS.

The Tab is equipped with a 5 MP Rear and a 1.2 MP front camera which is better than what is offered by the iPad.Maybe I am just used to 8MP-12MP cameras but I really dont like the quality of the pictures coming out,too blurry and out of focus I dont think this will replace a camera from a good mobile which kind of defeats the purpose a little bit.As far as audio output is concerned its SRS Premium sound and I found no complains with it.

If I draw a little comparison of this with the Ipad the tablet itself is 100$ cheaper, but the dock comes for 150$ making it costlier but with all that you do have a pad better in terms of connectivity and multimedia, for example instorage alone the Eepad can have 16/32GB(inhouse)+16/32GB(MicroSD)+16/32GB(If you add the Keyboard Dock)+The ability to connect external storage which is pretty nice in my opinion, almost as if the folks at ASUS wanted to draw upon those points where apple failed.

Update:One major negative of this tab is the trashy charger. You cant charge the tab through a USB and the wall mounted adapter+cable is pretty flimsy it didn't bomb on me.Yet,but the forums are full of complaints.

Both have the same processor/RAM combo, but the sleek design, light weight and brilliant screen of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 place it well ahead of the Transformer.

I'd rather wait for the Kal-El based tablets to show up. Tegra 2's codec support sucks a*s.

Color code, I have a question for you, does the device have a problem recognizing the docked keyboard if you plug the dock in after starting the tablet? There are a few reviews out there that say this is problematic, so was holding back on buying this, or has the problem already been solved through a firmware upgrade?

I am sure they have. I bought the device some weeks before the review, and I haven't experienced the problem at all. ASUS has a really good reputation on updates as I see that "Update" notification pop up frequently. Plus if ASUS keeps its promise, and give us ICS before Jan then you might be looking at a cheap option to experience ICS right now :)
