The game, simply being labelled for now as SimCity (not SimCity 5), is being developed by Maxis, is due for the PC, and will be out in 2013.

EA says that the development team consists of many veterans from SimCity 2000 and SimCity 4. It will also - wait for it - feature curved roads. Yes.

Another new feature for the game is the fact these cities are, for the first time (well, since some driving games we won't mention) in full 3D.

The new SimCity also has a feature called "Social Flow", which is the term for how your city will affect other people's cities. For example, resources are finite, and decisions you make - and technological advances other make - will impact the development of your own metropolis.

Interestingly, mention is also made by EA in the game's first press release of downloadable content (free to Origin pre-purchasers, of course), called SimCity Heroes & Villains, which will apparently feature "a battle between Maxis Man and his longtime nemesis Evil Dr. Vu." A very elaborate new disaster to clean up after, perhaps?

Further stuff like talking to individual Sims, a complete world builder and even the ability to customise buildings shows, surprisingly, Maxis is actually making a proper SimCity here. Not a social game, not a Facebook title, they look like they're making a real, honest-to-God SimCity game. Which sounds great.

SimCity to require always-on internet connection to Origin

EA has confirmed to Joystiqthat SimCity will be sold on digital distribution platforms other than Origin, but the game still requires players to be logged in to EA’s service while playing. The always-on connection is necessary due to multiplayer and player impact on the game’s global economy.

SimCity Will Not Require An Always-On Internet Connection

All hell has broken loose yesterday, when a lot of gaming sites reported that the new SimCity game would require an always-on internet connection in order to be played. Well, it seems that this is not entirely true as EA has made a clarification about it. As it was reported by GameSpy, the game will require an internet connection in order to be started. However, the game won’t kick you out if your connection drops after signing in.

Nope. Still not good enough. Not buying it EA. There are a ton of other games that dont make me go through this bullshit and I would rather spend my money on them.

One time Internet activation is as much leeway as I can give you, after that, take your game and shove it where the sun dont shine. :)

its because of something called preordering games

its basically giving the developers your money , even before the game is ready,

once they have the money the don't give a f**k about your game, good or not

and if you don't preorder, a part of the game will be missing from your copy

as a supportive suggestion, stop preordering games or order at the last moment
