I bought a new 4GB XBOX few days back and found in System Info, it shows a memory of 3GB instead of 4 and the free space as 1.3GB, am wondering if something wrong here... any thoughts wud be helpful...

New XBOX shows only 3 GB Memory

No, it's normal. The system uses the rest of the memory. Use the Xbox FAQ thread the next time you have such queries.

@devil_angel and Deepesh - I was concerned b'cos the system didnt even show 4 GB of which some is used by the system, but looks like thats how it works...thnx for the clarification..
sure I will post XBOX specific queries in FAQ link

That's not true, it is impossible to manufacture an exact memory, you cannot manufacture 4GB exact and it is also because the memory card companies take 1000 MB to be 1 gb, 1000kb to be 1 mb and so on so forth while the OS takes 1024 mb to be 1 gb, 1024 KB to be 1mb , the memory loss just racks up.Its normal Bro... CHill out
