PLAY AS CARVER

Dead Space 3 introduces Earthgov Sergeant John Carver, a merciless soldier with a complex history that is revealed during the co-op campaign. Unlock collectibles and new paths using clues only Carver can see as he comes to grips with his traumatic past. Together with Isaac Clarke you will fight to discover the secret to stopping the Necromorph infestation.


CHANGE THE GAME

Fighting alongside a co-op partner changes the way you play the game. While playing the co-op version of Dead Space 3’s campaign, you will uncover additional story elements, cut-scenes, and battle strategies that are exclusive to this mode. Play how you want - immerse yourself in the classic single-player campaign with Isaac Clarke, then discover how the story evolves when a co-op partner is present in your campaign.


DROP IN DROP OUT

Play together with a friend or go it alone as Isaac Clarke using the seamless new drop in, drop out functionality. Your partner can join and leave at any checkpoint in the game, so you'll never have to backtrack or play catch-up.

In space nobody can hear you scream, and that is why it was scary.
Scary dark corners are scary when you have no-one but yourself to go down that dark hall, not when you have an AI buddy that follows you around.

Looks like this would a co-op heavy game. Having a friend with you will decrease the fear factor, but it could be fun if its done right.

Leaves falling from trees / Snow drifting onto the ground / Life leaving your corpse

Previously, several leaks from verifiable sources made information on the project available, which we'll go over here. Here's what is believed so far...
- Dead Space 3 will not take place on any ship, but on a planet. Either an icy planet called Tau Volentis, where Isaac Clarke has to wade through white-out blizzard conditions, or an EarthGov planet called Uxor.
- Isaac Clarke will once again be the main character, still struggling with hallucintions and visions.
- Ellie from Dead Space 2 is also set to return, along with a new character named Jennifer, a survivor in a Tau Volentis waystation.
- Several new screenshots have also been released (which you can see above for yourself by clicking START) showing a character in a rig similar to Isaac's. This is rumored to be John Carver, who EA introduced in the Dead Space Graphic Novel Short (see below).
- This has led most to believe that co-op play will be a part of Dead Space 3. During single play, Carver will act as a guide to Clarke. But during co-op, it's expected that players will work together to fight, heal, and solve puzzles.
- New abilities are introduced and old ones seem to have changed. Isaac can now crouch, and take cover behind objects. Telekenesis is rumored to be more complex. You'll be able to rotate items which should make for more interesting puzzles.
- Classic weapons like the plasma cutter and pulse rifle return, but alternate fire modes have changed. With the plasma cutter, its alt-fire now has a knockback effetc, and the pulse rifle's alt-fire now uses a saw blade.|
- Necromorphs will return as enemies, but they're not alone. For the first time, Isacc will fight heavily armed humans. Whether they're Earthgov troops or members of the church of Unitology remains to be seen.

EA will debut footage of Dead Space 3 during its conference at E3, 1 PM (PDT), June 4th. Dead Space 3 is expected to be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

I like that they ditched versus multi in favor of co op. But kinda iffy about the universal ammo aspect. And the cover based shooting.

Perhaps the world is not made. Perhaps nothing is made. A clock without a craftsman. It's too late. Always has been, always will be.....too late.

^^ I guess cover wont work with Necros anyway especially with their agility,They will dash with ease.But i am guessing more military weapons might be included for carver :fear:

The co-op campaign looks to include cut scenes and interactions not seen when playing solo, however Visceral has confirmed that if choose not to play with a partner, "you'll hear everything you need to hear to get the whole story."

WTF!!! DS was always a survival horror game. The environment, low ammo, sense of being alone etc was all meant to scare the sh*t out of the player.

With DS2 they went a bit mainstream, but this looks like a complete cop out.


Exactly what happened to Mass Effect and its RPG-ness.

Low ammo :rofl: Dude, I swear in DS1, I always had more than enough ammo for any gun to shoot those necros Like always. Just see those monster and bang bang! talking about normal difficulty though. You sure you're not talking about silent hill? Agree with environment though but I admit its a horror game but not survival-horrror.

Really though, ammo wasn't an issue. DS1 had more scares than DS2.
