Will the games and blu-ray movies work perfectly on my PS3 in India?
Any legal / custom issues?

Games will work fine but you need to check the region of blu ray movies.

Customs on consoles is very high via DHL.Prepare to pay upwards of 5k.Also since it DHL,it will be cleared within a day.I am in uk and bought ps vita for my nephew and will ship it in few days through dhl. What will the custome duty or will it be exempted from custom duty
one more thing dhl is asking for some sorta code which is required to ship ps vita and told there wont be any delay from customs dept..

I was planning to buy headphones from USA. Should I ask the seller to mark it as gift and also show lower invoice value or not. Will it help on reducing or evading custom duty or will it make more prone to custom duties. Also seller will ship through usps first class international mail. Will it be safe through it.....
Depends on how many people are importing the same item. If there is a sudden influx and all of them are marked as 'gifts' then prepare for a summons by the local 'Customs' Department.
Most people say Bombay and Delhi are two trouble spots where importing stuff comes under heavy handed officers, who end up 'extracting' their pound of flesh whilst in Bangalore the latter is true. So many foreign MNC's have setup themselves they don't bother you much until you underwrite the value too much.
You might need to take a photocopy of the original bill to claim your product and ascertain its 'true' value. So marking it a gift (don't undervalue too much) and shipping using the air mail service (free, first class) is your best bet.
UPS might end up getting dragged into Customs, they will deliver it to your doorstep and furnish an additional receipt for Customs levied on import. Also they will deliver it faster and tracking will be more accurate + upto-date.
Hope this helps, Cheerio!
