Grimmjow
My 40GB PS3 got the YLoD where it beeps a couple of times, LED turns yellow, and then starts blinking. My question is, should I buy a 2nd hand PS3 (am getting a 320GB with 4 months warranty for 14k), or try to get it fixed from Sony or elsewhere? Since my PS is an old one, am I right in assuming that its parts will be difficult to find, and it'll take a long time to get it fixed? Basically, wouldn't it be a huge hassle? Thanks. boltonfan
Your ps may ylod again after getting it fixed. There's no saying how long it will last. I'd sa get a new ps3 if you can
Grimmjow
That's what I'm probably going to do - but does anyone have an idea of how much a YLoD repair costs? If its significantly cheaper then I don't mind taking the risk.
BUGSIE91
It depends bro..as far as i know, YLOD might represent any hardware failure...it might mean that you have to change the thermal paste or it might also mean that you have to change your motherboard...my best bet is to get a used ps3... some are available for 11-13k in olx.com(with 4-6 months warranty) ...don't buy a new one if u are planning to get a ps4 at launch... on the other hand, if you are not gonna buy any console for a while, say 2 years, jus buy a new one.. Grimmjow
I can't afford a new one, and I definitely won't be buying PS4 in the first 1 year of its launch, so i'll buy a used PS3 for a couple of years. Thanks guys
boltonfan
If you wan't to fix the console yourself, PM polash, he had fixed his ps3 himself.
